Diaper Shower for Pete

Devin and Phil threw Pete a diaper shower the first weekend in August. They invited about 18 people and about 12 came. They ALL brought diapers! Devin had ordered a keg and then we bought a cheap bottle of whiskey to mix with stuff. I made queso, tequila lime wings, pizza rolls and we had chips. I also ordered a 6 foot long sub from Subway for them. The kids and I went to Jennifer’s since Kirk was going to the shower. Nicole came over too and we all just hung out. We had pizza and ice cream. I put Pips to bed in their room about 9 and Aikman laid on the couch until about 10:40 when he fell asleep. We all just talked and laughed. It was nearly 12:30 when we headed home and the last of the guests were getting a ride from the designated driver. There was maybe two bites left in the sandwich and some burnt cheese in the bottom of the crock pot. And the guys told me not to worry about food……..men need to eat! They had a great time and Pete and Nicole got so many diapers!! Newborn to size 3. The shower was a success!

Pips is 2!

My baby girl turned two! We threw her a Lorax party and I could just kick myself for not taking pics of everything. It all turned out super cute! Devin made a sign for our front and painted it bright orange. It said things like “North Nitch” and “Once-ler’s” I made a cute sign that sat on an easel by her gift table with some current “stats” about her. Our food table consisted of Truffula Berries (fruit skewers with dip), chips, chicken salad sandwiches on croissants, veggie sticks with dressing, Truffula Berry pancakes (blueberry pancakes), Bar-ba-loots (chocolate Teddy Grahams), Humming fish (goldfish) and Pip’s go to snack-marshmallows! We served water, orange soda in glass bottles (recyclable) and Margarita’s! Our favors were clay pots with sunflower seeds to plant along with a super cute card and saying I ordered from Etsy. Gwynn Glasson from Etsy became my new best friend and made so many little food tags, signs, favor tags, door signs, banners and other cutesy décor to go with our theme. Devin and I made Truffula trees from dowel rods, electrical tape, Styrofoam balls and feather boas. We played a few games from Minute to Win It and laughed so hard. I made Pips a small cake and it had three layers. I did them in ombre! It came out so cute. Everyone else had cupcakes with mini trees or tags on them. That girl got an insane amount of presents and loved everything! She thanked everyone personally also after she opened a gift. She sure didn’t mind being the center of attention and her little face lit up each time she opened something new. She looked absolutely adorable and I am not ashamed to admit it. Ha ha. Am I bragging? Absolutely! Her face is the face of a little angel! I could kiss her all day and usually do. I can’t believe she has been in our lives for 2 years now! She learns something new each day and is becoming quite the talker. I don’t know what I would do without my mini me. Love you like crazy Pips! XOXO

Day with the Uncles!

Ms. Morgan took vacation one week and so Devin kept the kids two days and Pete and Phil kept them the other. They asked for their car seats so they could go places. They said they went shopping at HEB in the morning and then before lunch, stopped by their friend, Melvin’s. I laughed so hard because Melvin is a single guy in his early 20’s who lives in an apartment. Nothing fancy, but I have seen worse. Monks told me his house was huuuuuge with so many stairs and so big. He then told me that he had the best, nicest furniture ever and his house is so cool. How precious is he? They then had lunch at Cici’s and then it was home for quiet time and naps. They had a great day with their uncles and I know their uncles sure enjoyed them! I also was told that at Cici's they offered Aikman a brownie for dessert to which he replied, "oh, I don't like those. My mom made me eat them all the time when I was little." Um, excuse me?? Lol. Strange boy.

First Movie In Theaters!

One Saturday, we got Ms. Morgan to keep Pips and we took Aikman to his first ever movie theater! He wanted to see Monsters University over Despicable Me 2 so we made it a date! He had a game that morning and then it was home for lunch and to get ready! We stopped by Allsups on the way to get some candy and some drinks. I will gladly pay for popcorn and Icees at a theater, but I just can’t with the candy. My purse was full and we headed to the mall where it was showing. Devin and I shared a large popcorn and we got him his own small one. He also got a cherry Icee and Devin ended up buying some candy still. Lol. We found great seats and waited for our movie to start! We snacked on beef jerky, candy, popcorn and drinks! He took a total of three potty breaks during the movie and when there was about 25 minutes left in the movie, he turned to me and said, “Momma, I need some food please!” I told him to whisper and offered him what I had in my purse still. He said, not in a whisper by the way, “but I want meat!” Poor guy was hungry and didn’t want candy. I promised him food of his choice right after if he could sit quietly and finish the movie. He did. We laughed afterwards because he was such a good boy but could not for the life of him whisper when he talked in the theater. He said he had so much fun and as we buckled him in the car, he said, “thank you so much for taking me! I just love you all!” We love you more monkey and had so much fun! It was then off to get some “meat” and to Target to buy Pippa’s birthday presents. Such a fun date with our big boy!

Downtown Abilene

We try to take the kids outside in the evenings, but it is still so hot! We had one day, where it was mid 90’s so we decided to go walk around downtown. They always seem to have something new. The kids were in heaven, especially my Monks! They have several Dr. Seuss statues by the flowers and fountains. They are all the most popular ones, so we had to get pics with them all! Aikman’s favorite was the Grinch. The kids also had fun running around the fountain and sitting on all the benches. It is such a pretty area and we enjoy walking through it often.

I'm Back!

I am so sorry I fell behind! The last month just flew by. I am no longer able to access my blog at work either, so I can only do it from home and after the kids are in bed and the kitchen is clean, the last thing I want to do it sit on the computer. I need to get caught up though, so I will suck it up and update! Stay tuned for some super sweet posts and three birthdays! Exciting times!
