The Air Show!

Saturday we went to the Air Show at Dyess. I always looked forward to it when we lived on base as a kid. My dad and his squadron had a food booth which always involved grilling and lots of food. I loved going out there. This was the first time we took our children so it was extra special for me to be able to show Aikman where Grandpa worked and the planes he worked on. I so wish he could have been there to see Aikman and how excited he was on the planes. We did have to laugh because they were playing music over the sound system before the show started and it was that classic rock, like what 102 The Bear plays and as soon as it started, Pippa began to dance in her stroller. My dad listened to that music ALL the time outside and it was so annoying to me! Lol. She sure liked it! Who would have thought my dad and daughter would have enjoyed the same crazy music. We got there early to beat the heat and I am glad we did. It was warm, but there was a nice breeze blowing and it wasn’t that hot dry wind either. It felt really good. We got to hear the National Anthem and see several parachutists (is that a word?) jump out of a plane. One man held the American flag and it looked so neat! We also stood along the gate to actually watch the planes up close and we saw the B-1’s take off. Man it was crazy! The sound, the sights, the crowd! The ground even vibrated. Aikman loved it! I covered Pippa’s ears but she never jumped or seemed scared. We then walked around more and saw more planes and then took Aikman to the children’s area to play in some air castles. We were so excited to eat out there, but the only real food booth we saw was Steak Express! We decided to just get a snow cone and go eat lunch somewhere. We were there a few hours and had a great time! I look forward to next year’s show!

He has the cheesiest smile here and not sure why his arms are folded across his chest lol but he looks sweet.

This big truck had the body of a trash truck and he was so excited to drive it.

Sadly he made it all the way through this obstacle course and then could not make it up this wall at the very end. We had to just take him out.

In the car as we drove off. Planes made someone sleepy.

Cuteness Pic Overload!

I posted one of Pips from the Outpost the other day but Tio had this one on his blog and so I had to steal it! Look at that face!

Cousins playing, Tia Net has Pips. Who am I staring at in disgust? No clue.

Oh. Em. Gee. Pips leaned in to kiss him on the cheek. How sweet is that? And they are holding hands! Goodness!

Monks in my shades. Crazy boy. Little celebrity-baby. Lol.

Pippa Being Santa

You saw Monks being Santa the other day, now here is Pips! She has this crazy habit of when she is sitting in the tub, she likes to lean forward and lick the bubbles. She puts her face right on top of the water and barely touches it and then laughs and sits up. I don't want my daughter getting used to drinking bath water, but she sure is cute when being Santa! Crazy girl.

Abigail's Birthday Party

I have been so bad about forgetting to post this pic! It is from a birthday brunch Tia took the kids to one Wednesday. Abigail is the daughter of a couple who go to church with Tio and Tia and so they have had a few play dates. She just turned three so is a little older than Monks. Aikman was invited to the party and so we went the weekend before to get her a gift. What do you buy for a 3 year old girl I asked Aikman and his response was to get her a car! Um, no, let’s not. Lol. I said well, maybe she would like a baby doll. He wasn’t too interested in that so while he and Daddy looked at cars on an aisle in Target, Pips and I went to the girl toys! I showed Pippa all the wonderful girl things and we picked out a baby doll in a stroller for Ms. Abigail. That was the day Pippa bought a little doll too. (I know I mentioned that a while back) Aikman had a lot of fun eating pancakes and marshmallows off some cupcakes at her party. This picture was taken of the three kids and I just love it. I love how he is with his little friends and being silly. The other little boy is the son of another couple they go to church with. Sorry little man, but I don’t remember your name. I have always called him Abbott and Costello because his last name sounds like Costello. I know, I know, I am the only one who thinks that is funny. Regardless, I am so grateful to Tia for introducing him to other sweet children and taking him to the party.

Our New Love Pad

After being in our house for nearly 9 years, we finally redid our bedroom. When we moved in, we painted our room this light green color which at the time I obviously liked it or I would not have picked it, but a week ago when I would look at it, I would think, what the heck was I thinking? We had a comforter with green and goldish stripes that my dad had bought us and after a wash in the washing machine, it became all lumpy and dumb and so it became Apollo’s bed. We had nothing hanging on our walls but a small cross above our light switch that Tia Net bought us when we got married. We had no curtains up, just blinds, and when Devin went to midnights a couple of years ago, he hung blankets over the windows so it would be super dark in there so he could sleep during the day. Blankets. Needless to say, I was embarrassed of our room and wanted it to be a relaxing, semi-romantic, nice but not fancy spouse-cave. I got several ideas from Pinterest and was able to convince Devin to redo our room. We decided on grey, turquoise, purple and white. I had seen where you paint horizontal stripes on your walls, using the same color, just alternating between glossy and flat paint. I love how it turned out! I took off last Wednesday so we could do it all. The prep work included taping everything off and measuring our stripes and dusting and vacuuming everything. Is it super gross to have dust just on your wall? Well I did. I also vacuumed up a few apartment complexes that housed spiders. I never saw a spider but clearly web=spider and that equals super scary. We still have a few things to add on the walls but it is already four hundred times better than it was. Once I add a few more accent colors in there, I think it will really make it all pop even more. I found the best pillows at Pier 1. They were silky and looked like flowers the way the material was on and it was the perfect turquoise and purple to go in there. I loved them and grabbed them right when I saw them and showed Devin. He wasn’t near as enthusiastic as I was, but then I saw the tag. Unfortunately, they were $30 a piece. Sorry perfectly beautiful pillows, I just can’t do that. I set them back on the shelf as I wiped a tear from my eye. Oh well. I hope you like it as much as we do and maybe if you are in our neighborhood, I will let you come in and lay on our super soft bed. Last night was the first night to have the bedding on as we were still waiting on our sheets. Monks and Pippa were already in bed when we put on our new sheets. This morning after getting dressed I asked Aikman to go in our room to grab my phone for me. Devin was still getting dressed and he said when Monks walked in, he did a double take and then said oooh, I like you bed daddy as he rubbed the sheets. He then came and told me and I said isn’t it nice sweetheart and he said yes, momma, very soft. I promised him he could lay in it this evening after his bath. Sweet boy.

DO NOT JUDGE ME FOR THE HIDEOUS ROOM BEFORE.

Nice throw on the window there huh?

Wow.

This was with some blankets taken down lol

During painting last week. Those are some ugly princesses!

Ahh, how sweet. Like the stripes? That shelf has our wedding picture of our kiss on it with some sweet sayings I found online and some I made. The curtains are a plum color and on the turquoise wall, they do look that color, but on the grey wall, it looks a little brown at times. I am thinking when I get more purple things in there, it will stand out more. I love the white down comforter so much! It makes it bright and stand out.

I bought those little wall hooks at Pier 1 and am debating moving them to another wall or just putting something else on that wall with them.

Above the closet I want to put one of those wood sayings like Love or Laugh or something and then above the dresser put a big picture of the kids and have it framed and matted at Hobby Lobby. I will either do two and have them separate or one giant one of them together.

I want to hang a shelf on the right wall and maybe put a nice chair in that corner and then hang some more pictures on the wall that has the armoire. That mirror in the drawer is what I use to get ready in the morning so I will get a little one and then get rid of that big one.

9 Months!

Sunday Pippa turned 9 months! Wow. I know your kids obviously bring you so much joy and their smiles and faces make your heart explode every time you see them, but man oh man, I wish you could feel what I feel when I look at her. I am not sure if it is because I can’t wait to have what I had with my mom or because when I look at her I see my mom at times or what, but she just kills me! Her smile is what I look forward to each morning. I just want to look at her all day and kiss her. She gives me the best kisses and I LOVE them! Don’t misunderstand me, Monks does the same things for me, but there is a huge difference in their personalities and obviously one is a boy and a girl so there is no comparison. I seriously never knew I could love a little girl like this. I will admit I am partial to boys; have been all my life. I was so scared when Dr. McCain said we were having a girl and now I can’t imagine anyone else but her in my arms. She is amazing. I laugh about it at times, but she is a lot like me and I already see that. Most is good lol I love how she is physically tough and Aikman can be rough with her and she won’t even cry but you make a noise that startles her and she will cry hysterically. She has an attitude at times and when she doesn’t like something, she will let you know. She can be very demanding and won’t stop until she gets her way. I don’t mean any of that in a negative way either. I honestly don’t want a little girl who is very passive and quiet and I definitely don’t have that in my Pips! Sorry to ramble, but meet this little girl and you will be in love too!

We have been introducing real fruits and vegetables to her lately and Sunday I decided to try a scrambled egg for breakfast. She tore it up! She had that and bananas. For lunch I fed her apricots with mixed fruit and cucumbers. I decided I would try a grilled cheese also and she played with it at first and then ate it. She ate a fourth of it. I was so excited because Aikman won’t eat them. Weird I know, but my monkey will not eat a grilled cheese and I love them so I was ecstatic!

She is still trying to crawl but not there yet. Let me rephrase that. I try to make her crawl but she won’t. She just wants to roll to get across the room. I put her up on all fours and she slides her legs down. I put them back and she gets mad at me. I do it again and she will just roll over each time and I have to set her back up. After several attempts, I know when she is done with it when she squeals and lays flat on her stomach and puts her head down. It is hilarious because her face on the carpet is just like “I admit defeat and am not crawling today.” There’s always tomorrow, right?

Happy 9 Months Pippa! You are my world!

Gilled cheese

I am getting better at doing her hair!

She adores Aikman so much and he makes her laugh constantly. They are so sweet together! Oh how I love my babies!

This was her Sunday morning. She is always undoing those and holds onto them.

After her bath Sunday night.

Weekend Update!

Friday night, Devin and I got Larissa to watch the kids so we could go to a retirement party for one of my sergeants. Aikman had so much fun since she brought Corbin and Brianna to play. Since Tio and I both work together, he and Jenny got a sitter also. It was so much fun. We left about 6:45 to head out. We had a great barbecue dinner followed by the best cake I have ever tasted. It was BYOB so we took our cooler. They had a band and we had so much fun dancing and talking with everyone. It was supposed to end at 10:30, but after cleanup and finally saying our goodbyes, we left about 11:10. Tio was our driver and he gave a ride home to a girl we work with. We picked up her daughter along the way home and he dropped them both off. Devin and I were dropped off around nearly midnight! Thanks Larissa for staying later than we had planned. It was such a fun evening and was nice to get out just the four of us without our babies. We will miss you Sergeant Land!

Saturday we woke up around 8:30 to get ready to take pictures in bluebonnets! We had been planning this for a week or so. Everyone but Phil was able to come. Um, bad planning. We spent nearly an hour and a half looking for them! I really think they all died! All the ones we had seen were no longer there. We all looked super duper cute so it couldn’t go to waste. While out in Buffalo Gap, we decided to eat at a new place out there. We all had burgers and they were pretty good. Really big. It was fun and something new. After lunch, we took Pete home and went to get ice cream. Aikman usually just wants a cup of fruit and the candy toppings. I got half white chocolate mousse and half pink lemonade. He ate all of my pink lemonade one! It was pretty sour too but had the texture of one of those Lemon Chill’s from Six Flags. It was delicious! We then headed home for naps and relaxing.

At Outpost

Big smile! Lol.

Look how this crazy girl sits. She completely turned herself around in the chair.

Sunday was spent around the house doing nothing but playing and being lazy. We did try a new potato soup recipe that was a definite winner! Here’s to a great week!
