Weekend Update

Saturday, we woke up and Jennifer came over. Her daughter Kierstyn was volunteering to serve and play “waitress” at the Kiwanis Club’s Pancake Day. Jennifer got us tickets, and kids were free so we went with her. We got there at 8:25 and it wasn’t very crowded at all. It was all you can eat pancakes with sausage links. It was really good too. We then went to drop Jennifer back off at our house to get her car and then we headed to Target. The kids needed some new sandals for summer and Pips only had one pair of shorts, the rest were capris. They had some buy one, get one half off on a few things, so we got some great deals. Plus, the kids were such big helpers with the whole moving process, I wanted to get them a little something. Pippa got her own box of Legos, girly ones at that, so we won’t get theirs mixed up. Monks picked out a big Incredible Hulk. He has taken that thing everywhere the whole weekend! We then went and got him a haircut at SportClips. He did so well getting his first haircut at a big boy place! We then went home for lunch and naps and then set up Pippa’s room. It looks awesome and I love it! She also had her crib made into a toddler bed so she is a big girl now! She has done so well with it. After the kids went to bed, Devin and I did part of the dining room and the kitchen table area. We just lack the two living areas and hanging stuff in the kitchen/dining area.

I am so glad he loves this guy. He told Phil when he grows up, he is going to be the Hulk. I am fine with that. :)

Look at that face!
Sunday, we woke up and took the kids to McDonald’s to play. We ate and then went grocery shopping. I was going to make lunch and have the boys come over to eat. We got home from the grocery store and I immediately hit the bathroom. I had the worst upset stomach and nausea! It just hit like that! After about 35 minutes in the bathroom, I sat on the edge of the bed and felt so exhausted. I slept about 4 hours. I woke up, the kids were napping and Devin was kind of doing random things. I occasionally went to the bathroom but it was not constant and I wasn’t puking my guts out. I was happy. I felt so much better. So random right? Pete ended up having to work that evening, but Phil was off, so I told him to come over and I would cook. I made lasagna and we had salad and bread. For dessert, we had strawberry shortcake cups. The kids ate three servings of lasagna each! It was then time for baths! The kids played with Phil and then we put them to bed. Pete got off early and so he came by to eat too. They left about 10:15 and Devin and I got in bed.

This was Monks working on his Waffles scrapbook page. He did an awesome job!

Once again, we had a very productive weekend and had some play time in there as well. Slowly but surely we are getting settled into the new house and the old house goes on the market Wednesday! We had planned for today but apparently people are lazy and don’t want to work. Devin ended up doing the backyard himself since the three people who gave him quotes never bothered to get back with him. Don’t even get me started on the cleaning drama we have had. At least we are getting some of our money back. That has been hell. All that aside, we are so happy! Lol.

Evening Off

Wednesday when I got off work, I headed home to see my babies! Devin had a training so was gone all evening, and I had a lot I could have done, but I wanted to just play with the kids! We started by playing outside. We played with chalk, sat in the swing and played with the wagon. We then went inside and they made a silly craft with some holiday stuff I had easy access to. They put stickers on paper plates with ribbon and fuzzy poms. The weirdest things make kids happy. We then ate and then played with their toys. It was then time for their bath so we took a big bubble bath and then got ready for bed. My poor kids haven't had too much fun lately with the whole move and all so hopefully this weekend we can do something pretty fun! Monks has been wanting Chuck E. Cheese lately (not their food necessarily but their games!) so maybe we can do that.

Pippa had an ice cream cone and pulled a "dad" She dipped chicharones in her ice cream and then ate it.  My dad always did weird food combinations like that.
We drew bugs and named them after Super heroes. Aikman's blue spider was named Captain America.
Pippa's hair was all soapy and set on her head so it looks like two little boys in  there!  She loved those foam letters and numbers.

Star Student!

Aikman is the Star Student this week! He has this form to fill out, with things all about him. They also let him bring home their class friend, named Waffles. He gets to spend the whole week with Waffles and document the things they do together and then we put pictures and things on a scrapbook page that he did with him. Poor little Waffles has been a little neglected since we have only been unpacking and getting organized but the weekend will bring lots of fun for the two of them! He takes him back to school on Monday so we have more time. Here is a Sneak Peek, before the finished product!

Moving Day!

Moving day was bittersweet. I so love my Jefferson house. It was our first house we bought in 2002 and we have eleven years worth of memories in. It is where both our children began their lives and experienced several of their “firsts”. Where we brought Apollo home. Where my mom, Devin and I put about 5 coats of red paint in the living room the day we bought it. Where my dad worked in the yard countless times when he was down. Where we celebrated several holidays. Where we spent forever putting up the giant swimming pool and swam every summer. Where I told my family I was pregnant. Where my nephew played often and spent the night. Where many huge dinners were made and our family got together. Where memorable parties and showers were thrown. Where Jenny dropped her phone in the toilet when she had had too much to drink. (had to throw that in there) Obviously I could go on forever; that was our home. Many laughs, hugs and tears were shared there and I will miss it. I cried as Devin and I went to lock it up. I don’t doubt that what we are doing is for the best, I just was sad. Not to sound so sappy and negative, I am thrilled we will be living in my parent’s home, where just as many memories were already made and the traditions will just continue. I am so thankful for that. Back to moving!

We started early in the morning and the boys helped us. Pete had class that morning and so it was just mainly Phil and Devin at first. They loaded the truck and had one load completely finished when Pete showed up. We were done in about 4 hours total and then as they cleaned out the shed in the backyard, I worked on the pantry and fridge. It looks crazy in there. The painters came that afternoon to start on the interior and they will finish today. I have a cleaning service coming out this afternoon or tomorrow morning, just whenever the painting is done. Friday afternoon, someone will come and clean the carpets. Yep, we have the tools to do it all but with what we still have to unpack, Devin and I said we would pay someone to do it lol I just don’t have it in me at this point. I will post pics of the after when it is all done.

The house was of course painted a dark grey with white trim and I thought a blue door would be really pretty. When it was all done, Devin, the painter and our realtor all said it was ugly and didn’t go. Way to crush my dreams there guys. They all suggested a red door so it will be repainted. I also realized as I looked at it with the blue door (which was awesome lol) that is was a straight Dallas Cowboys house. Too cute!

We will put the beds all together tonight and start getting it all organized. I told Devin we are giving ourselves two weeks to have it all done. We can do it! Pics will come soon, promise! The kids love the new house and I am so pleased. We are all so happy!

Pippa's blinds from her room. She would reach behind the curtain from her crib and chew on them. Is she a toddler or a wild animal? Wow.
Our room with bed apart!
Pippa's....
Monks'!
I know this looks full, but it is just all our curtains  hanging over the treadmill. The dining room was basically empty, we had already taken all the stuff from there over the weekend and last week.
Upside down bed becomes a fun fort for the kids!
Pippa's last night in her room!
Monks' last night!
This was in the morning, she ran to our room and crawled onto our mattress.
Almost the one load!
Monks taking the truck back with Daddy! He was waving and so excited!
Our first real meal in the new house!
Devin grilled steaks, chicken, sausage and corn to thank the boys for all their help. We could not have done it without them! Pete made the jalapeno poppers.
Dessert! Ice cream cones. Both kids just had to sit in Phil's lap when he sat on the ground. They adore their uncles so much! And I am pretty sure their uncles adore them just as much....

Weekend Update

Saturday was crazy busy for us. When we went to bed at 10:00 that night, we were out. The kids never made a sound either. It all started with yard work. We worked at the Ivanhoe house first since the painter was finishing the Jefferson house. We not only cut the grass and edged and swept, but we picked up sticks, trimmed some bushes and tall weeds and pulled weeds out of the rock patio in front. It took hours. I then went inside and we put some stuff away and unpacked more boxes while the kids napped. We also had to make a few trips to Lowe’s to get some stuff in between all that. It was about 6:00 when we headed over to the Jefferson house to work in that yard. We cut the grass, edged and picked up sticks and some random things in the yard. It was 7:40 and we still had the backyard to finish. I told Devin I couldn’t do anymore. I was exhausted. We had been going since 8 that morning. It was then time to grab something to eat and time for baths. We stayed at the Jefferson house even though we didn’t have any beds or mattresses. I did bathe Pippa and Monks showered with Devin. We made pallets on their floors with blankets and they were out. Devin and I slept in the front room on the floor. I am not a floor sleeper and find it uncomfortable, but I was out. I wasn’t sure I could get up the next morning lol but I managed. My legs killed me and my arms were kind of sore.

Sunday, we ran some more errands and unpacked more of what we brought over. I worked on doing lots of laundry and making sure everything was ready for Monks for school the next day. Plus, I needed to pack some of the kitchen still and our room’s closet. We had promised Monks we would order pizza so we did. We ate and then it was bath time and we put the kids to bed. Devin had a bad stomachache all day and we weren’t sure if he had some virus or if it was from his medicine being changed over to new ones. Poor guy.

We just moved and worked in yards! I can’t say enough about how much the kids helped us also. They did more than I ever thought possible. They are the greatest little helpers and I appreciate them so much! VERY productive and tiring weekend ha ha 6:30 came very early Monday morning…..

The Demolition Has Begun

Okay, so it is not demolition but that sounds cool, right? The painters came to start painting our old house before we put it on the market. I am so excited! He said he should be done by Saturday (cross your fingers it won't rain!) and then by next week we will be out of the house completely and so he can start repainting the interior. Apparently my bright colors inside need to be made neutral. Lol.

We left the painters to go get one more gallon of yellow for Pippa's new room. It will be the same color as it was, we just ran out of paint to finish. We then headed to the new house to peel all the tape off our room and Monks room and finish hers. The kids were so funny pulling tape and would just laugh and laugh. Pippa would lay on her stomach and stare at the baseboard and scoot as she peeled. Ha ha. She also collected all the tape and wadded it up into one big tape ball and threw it away for us. Tonight we start moving the rest of the small stuff, some kitchen stuff and all the kid's clothes in their closets. We will also hang their curtains up so it will be no time before they have their rooms ready! I am so excited! I will keep you posted and post pics once the rooms are complete!

This was the paint off only after about an hour or so. When we came home last night, it was a lot worse. I told Devin it is going to look so ugly right now ha ha.
And this is my Pips just because I love her.

Monks the painter! He was dancing when Devin took this pic. He reminds me of Mario and Luigi lol

Random Pics

This was my last night with Manny before they moved. He came over and played and ate with us so Mike and Jenny could pack some stuff. We had pizza and pineapple and then strawberry shortcake for dessert. It was definitely bath time after dinner.

Pete and Phil came over to eat with us Tuesday evening and we played in the back yard after we ate. I took this cute pic of Phil because it reminded me so much of my dad. Always wearing some camo shorts and boat shoes. All Phil lacked was a tank top. He reminds me so much of him. It makes me happy. He did get in trouble by Aikman when he went to smoke. Aikman walked up and yelled "Phil, you're not supposed to smoke anymore! It's bad for you!" That's my boy!

This was a text I got from Tio the night Devin and I went to that wedding. Tia had made pot roast and some veggies in the crock pot and so the kids had dinner with them. My Monks is so crazy!
