My Little Bookworm

Tio sent me this a few minutes ago:

"Well it seems I've succeeded in one of my many plans for Aikman...he seems to really love books now!  This morning Jenny said they were watching TV and he kept looking over at the book shelf. She finally asked him if he wanted to turn off the TV and read instead and he enthusiastically said, "YES!" so they read a story together while I mowed the yard. Then he said he wanted to go lay down. We were kinda confused since it was only 10:45 but we said okay. He grabbed his books and went and laid down. Then about 30 minutes later Jenny asked if I would go check on Pippa because she thought she heard her. I walk quietly down the hallway and stop at Pippas door to listen for her. Then I hear literally shouting in a weird voice. It's Aikman in our room! He was apparently doing difference voices and just talking to himself. I don't know if he was pretending to read the books or just telling himself stories, but he was just chatting away to himself while laying there with his books. I asked him if he wanted to get up and he did. I explained to him that he didn't have to go lay down if he wanted to look at books he could just look at them in the living room. He seemed excited about that so for the last 10 minutes he's just been pulling books down and looking through them himself. He will randomly show me titles and say, "Hey wook, dis Curious Dorge!" (Curious George) or "Hey wook! Dis Booty Beast!" (Beauty and the Beast).

I'm very proud of him and he is such an intelligent boy. I can't wait until he is the only 1st grader who can read on his own!"

How sweet is that??

Even More Water Fun

Monday night we went over to Craig and Jerolyn’s to finish up Pippa’s banner and a few small things for her party. Jerolyn has a Cricut and that thing is amazing! I cannot wait to show you the finished pieces. We could not stop talking about how cute it all turned out. I mean, we knew it would be adorable but it exceeded our expectations. They have the most gorgeous pool you have ever seen in their backyard so while the girls worked, the boys played. Aikman even jumped off their diving board! He was so cute in his floatie. He had the best time. Devin really enjoyed it too. How could you not? Tia and Adrian swam with them too. (Tia ended up getting in in her clothes. Lol)

Sweet story: I was holding Pips and Jerolyn was talking to her and she was just smiling at her. Jerolyn then told her "you are such a pretty girl!" Pippa smiled even bigger and kind of turned her face to the side and up a little as if saying tell me about it. Lol. She knows what a cutie she is!

Swim Time!

Sunday we went to the State Park to take the kids swimming. I wish I would have taken a good pic of the pool. It is an Olympic size pool with a low and high dive and then a kiddie pool that goes from ½ a foot to 1 ½ feet deep. We got there right before noon and left at almost 3. We took a break to have a picnic style lunch. We took an ice chest full of stuff and the kids sat in the back of the car while Devin and I sat on the ice chest. The kids had worked up an appetite! Pippa ate two pieces of bologna, a slice of cheese, goldfish and some fruit. Monks ate all his bologna, cheese, cheetos, three pickle spears and drank a whole bottle of water. We then went back in for a little while and then I could tell Pips was getting sleepy so I took her to the car to change her and dry her off and give her her bottle. Devin and Monks swam for about twenty five more minutes and then got out. Pippa was asleep in the car within minutes of us backing out of the parking lot and Monks was out half way home. We had the best time out there and I swear my monkey is a fish! He would swim all day if he could.

Look at Aikman's face he is making! Crazy boy.

She looks so big here.

Fast asleep

Going To The Gun Range

Last Tuesday was a holiday for me so since basically everyone was off, we decided to have some adult time. The youth at Mike and Jenny’s church are raising money for camp so we hired two girls as babysitters for the three kids. Mike, Jenny, Devin and I then went to lunch at Buffalo Wild Wings and then to the gun range. I have been shown how to load and unload our guns, but never actually shot them. We loaded up our protective eyewear, earplugs, guns and ammo and went to put in some work on some targets. Devin had his Glock and Hi Point and Jenny brought her revolver and Mike brought his Walther PPS. I shot all of them! I was very comfortable and so glad I finally got to use them. I was a very good shot too! Devin said he was really surprised at how well I did. I take that as a compliment.

That evening, everyone was off, including Pete and Phil so we all went to dinner at Abuelo's. That is so rare. It has been months since we were all together at the exact same time. We had fun.

Father's Day

Father’s Day was nice. Devin got off work at 7 and came home to find his gifts in the living room. He was given a tool box, a holder for charcoal, chocolate covered pretzels, this super neat container for small items like screws and nails and some cologne. This time he got David Beckham because well, David is hot and to think of how he smells is nice. Lol. I made him turtles (toast with the centers cut out and an egg cooked in the middle) bacon, bagels and fruit. We then spent the day together naturally! We stopped by Nikki’s for some frozen yogurt. They had the most amazing pistachio flavor and I was in heaven. Pips and I shared and Monks and Devin got their own. Dads ate for free so it only cost us $6 for the three. We then took the kids out to see Grandpa. There were several people out there, which was sad but sweet. We had planned on going swimming, but it was supposed to rain so we decided to go to a park and have a picnic but that quickly became a no go. First it was insanely hot and then it started to pour rain. We were on the interstate and you could barely see. Monks loved it and just stared out the window and my Pips just slept. We were getting hungry but weren’t starving. We decided to go buy a movie and go home and watch it while we ate snacks. We stopped at a gas station and got chips, candy, drinks and some delicious little burritos, popcorn chicken and corn dogs. Yes, those are snacks to us. J We were heading to Best Buy to buy a movie when I couldn’t remember if we had popcorn at home or not. Where do you go when you want delicious popcorn? Um, hello! We stopped by a theater and I got out and ran in. I bought us a huge tub and we went to get a movie. They did not have what we had in mind so we bought Monks Cars 2. We then shopped some in the mall and then went home and watched our movie. Devin said he had the best day ever! He sure deserved it. Happy Father’s Day Devin! Our dads would be so proud of the man and father you are today.

Pips on the rocking horse Gigi bought Monks.

At Nikki's
At the arcade in the mall. He walked over and grabbed the gun himself. My little future hunter.

Pippa's 1 Year Pics

Saturday, my co-worker's husband took these pics of Pippa. He will also do pictures at her party. I just knew this would go so well as Pippa is always smiling and laughing. Boy was I wrong! I know these still came out great, but man oh man, she was killing us! She would not smile and was so serious half the time. I am not sure if it was because of people around or what but she was not having it. I was so afraid there would not be any I could use for her invite or the party, but when they brought me the discs, I was amazed! He took about 350 pictures of her and I could not stop oohing and ahhing. She is so beautiful in all the pictures and smiled so much more than I realized. Even in some non-smiley ones she is still a doll! Now the insanely difficult part--picking a reasonable amount to have printed! I will have to take out a loan to get them all. Lol. That was a joke Devin, don't get scared. Enjoy my beautiful baby girl. Sorry I could not load them all for you.

This was the first picture taken. She was way too happy.

How sweet is my monkey? He had to get in the mix. Preciousness.

Silly Stories

Tio texted me the other day to tell me that Pippa was crawling on the floor, she stopped mid crawl, looked at the TV and smiled and waved to Paula Deen and then continued to crawl. Lol. Such a friendly little girl. J

Saturday we went to take 1 year pics of Pippa downtown. (Stay tuned for all those. Omg, they are precious!) Tia and Adrian came with us and when Aikman walked up to Adrian in the stroller he said, “Hey big man. You look so cute right now!” Lol. He calls the babies the sweetest names.

Saturday evening after baths, I was dressing Pips and lotioning her up. She was holding the bottle of lotion and dropped it and it hit her in the mouth. She immediately began to cry and it was not just a small waa, that hurt, it was full on scream with those few seconds of mouth wide open but no sound coming out. Aikman immediately ran from the living room when he heard her and yelled oh no! I told him she was fine. I was dabbing her lip with a baby wipe as it was bleeding some and when he saw the blood, he hugged her and said “I am so sorry Pippa. Oh my gosh. I love you so much, are you okay?” I kind of laughed and said monkey she is okay and he said “but I just love her so much and don’t like this!” Lol. Such a sweet boy. He was just devastated his sister was hurting. She really did not cry long and was holding his head as he hugged her. How adorable is that?

Pippa understands the word no and will stop in her tracks if you tell her it. She likes to try and grab the nightlight so we say no Pippa and she stops. She will cry first lol but she stops. It hurts her feelings to be yelled at. L And it’s not like we are screaming at her, it is just a firm no, don’t touch, but it hurts her. I used to cry so hard if my dad even said Sarah in a tone that was not super happy and that is how she is. She will cry like you tackled her or something. Poor baby. Hey, it makes her stop and she turns directions (if we didn’t have to pick her up to kiss her). She is learning!

Our Anniversary Celebration

Tuesday night we celebrated our anniversary. I booked us one of the presidential suites at the Elegante. Oh em gee was it worth it! It was a beautiful room and had several perks. When Devin picked me up from work Tuesday, we took the kids to Tio and Tia’s and then headed to the room! We went upstairs and freshened up and then went to get our free drinks! I had a margarita and a rum and coke and was good. I am such a lightweight since my babies came. Devin drank margaritas and beer and then a couple gave us two of their tickets since they were leaving. Devin drank those too. J We had so much fun sitting there and stereotyping all the people around us. We had each other laughing so hard. We then went back upstairs to freshen up once more and head out. We went to Chili’s and had appetizers. We witnessed this crazy couple behind our booth straight making out and being very sexual at the table. People were staring and I wanted to throw up in my mouth. They were in their late 40’s too. A manager finally came and asked them to leave and said it was a family restaurant and they were being inappropriate. They asked if they could just finish their wine and the manager said they needed to sit separate then. After we headed out, I wanted to run by Wal-Mart to buy some bowls I had seen for the salsa at Pippa’s party. I told Devin we could just run in really fast and then be done so we didn’t have to go the next day. When we walked in, there was a big display of Hot Wheels and Devin said we have to get something for Monks. He grabbed a little three pack of cars and I saw some pink lemonade cake mix and frosting I love so I grabbed that. Devin ended up not liking the bowls so we didn’t get them. It was around 9:30 and we checked out. Devin said “how sad are we? We are kid less staying in a suite and we come to Wal-Mart and buy cake mix and cars?” We ended up hanging out and running around to a few places and then headed to the room just before 11:00. We toasted our complimentary liquor/champagne they gave us and to be honest, it tasted like rubbing alcohol. We then hit up the Jacuzzi tub in our room and fell asleep around 1:30. Breakfast was brought to us around 7:30 and we laid in bed watching TV until about 10:30 when we showered and got ready for the day. Checkout was at noon. We then went and did some shopping and paid on some stuff for Pippa’s party. I picked up the kids around 4:50. We had a wonderful time together. I can’t even describe how much fun we had. Thanks to Tio and Tia for keeping them overnight for us. Such a treat.

Our tub and yes we both fit comfortably at the same time.

Que cute.

We tried to take the picture below of the two of us and the camera was turned the wrong way so we got just the staircase. Lol. Oops.

Much better
