My Baby Is Starting School!

This needed its own post. Pray for me Friday. My baby boy will start school. Yes, school. Where do I even begin? I had been looking online for a while now and we had talked about wanting him to do something part time to get used to it and kind of see how things go for him before starting actual Pre-K next year.  I found a school through a church I really liked. Their curriculum was real, they treated it like actual school and they had several different options of how often he could go. We went up to the school yesterday morning and met with the director. She said they had one spot for the Monday, Wednesday and Friday classes from 8:30 to noon. The other times they offer are 8:30 to 2:30 but she told me basically from noon until 2:30 they nap so that I would be paying for a nap then. Next year that will be fine but to start out we will just do half days. She gave me a calendar with holidays and events on it and a supply list. Seriously? I about died! My monkey has supplies he needs. She also said since it is halfway through the year that he won’t need the markers, crayons, scissors and glue and other small things like that. This part sent me over the edge-I got his uniform! They have polos they wear and normally they are $20 a piece, but she said that they had extras so she just gave us two. I don’t think I stopped smiling! We had a tour of the place and saw his classroom and everything in it. She said his two teachers were huge Pinterest fans and do several activities with the kids from there. Um, new best friends. Monkey was so excited in the classroom too pointing out stuff and telling me “hey check this out!” We also met his class and he was all smiles as some of the kids waved to him. I filled out the paperwork and Monks sat by me and he wasn’t shy and he talked to the director and the assistant. Another mom came in with a baby on her hip and Monks said, “aww momma, did you see that baby? He looks like Adrian! He is so sweet!” They all thought that was adorable and I told them Adrian was his cousin. We paid our registration fee and set up an automatic draft for his monthly fees. He seems so excited about it and I can’t wait! I will come in late Friday after I drop him off and being his first day I will take a late lunch to pick him up and take him home. I have to hear about his day! Mrs. Morgan will be taking and picking him up twice a week so she is going with me to see how it all works and meet his teachers so they are familiar with her as well. We can’t wait! The director told me his first class is music class! He has music class! Sigh. I am a mess. Lol. Mostly excited but also a little nervous about it all. I know he will amaze me and fit right in but I still worry. I know this will be great for him though. He also has to take lunch daily and so I will be making lunches! I feel like that is every mother’s dream! Okay, well one of mine at least. I have already been looking at my favorite blogs to get ideas for fun meals and I feel like I need to order everything from the Bento Box collections. As we walked out of the building and to the car I said “Omg, I can’t believe it babe! Our baby boy is starting school!” Devin just laughed. I immediately took a picture of his shirt and texted it to everyone. I am so proud! I began looking at the schedule she gave me and I said “omg, he has spring pictures next month! He has graduations! He has parties! I will be that mom who takes off a couple of hours to help with their child’s school party! I will be making goodie bags and snacks and…” I was interrupted by Devin telling me he needed a second job now. Lol. I so can’t wait for it all! I have already received two emails this morning about upcoming events. Hello school emails! Looks like we go school supply shopping tomorrow night…..

Swoon! He has a yellow one also.

Pippa's 18 Month Check Up

Tuesday I was off for Pippa’s check up. It went great as usual! She is not scared of the doctor or anything, she just doesn’t like being examined so when he puts the stethoscope on her back or chest she whines and leans away from him. He then had to lay her back to check her ears, eyes and everything else. She cried. Not hard, but enough to make tears. He then sat her up and Devin set some goldfish in front of her. She immediately stopped and went “mmmm” as she grabbed some. She then smacked and crunched the whole time we talked to him. Lol. He told us she looked great and was right on track! He even said he liked her painted toes. She waved bye to him and was all smiles. She weighed 27.5 pounds and was 32 inches long. No shots this time, they will come at her 2 year check up. At check out, she got a sucker and sticker and so did Monks. They told everyone goodbye and we left!

It was about 12:15 and so we went to Wholly Cow for lunch. We then went to a park we had never been to before. It is fairly new and the kids had so much fun. It had a really high and twisty slide which they both loved. You also had to crawl through this long tunnel to get to the top. It was so windy though. I ended up putting Aikman’s jacket on Pippa. About 1:40 I had Pippa in a swing and she was resting her head on her hands. She really began closing her eyes. She was falling asleep! We then went home and put the kids for naps. They both talked for a little while and Aikman had to get up to pee and then to poop and then he was down. I heard something in Pippa’s room and waited a minute and then heard something by the door. I went and looked in her room, and she was crawling on the floor between her chair and kitchen! SHE HAD CRAWLED OUT OF HER CRIB! She has never done that. I could not believe it and called Devin to come see. Needless to say her crib was lowered that evening. The kids woke up from their naps and we went to HEB to get some fruit and bread. Before we went home we went to see Pete and Phil at work. We had not seen them since they got back from their trip. I wish I had video of it. You should have seen the kids running up to their uncles. They sure missed them. It was then home for dinner and baths. I love being off with them so much!

Waiting to be seen...
Just playing!

Waiting on food. She loves their grilled cheese so  much.

Look at my baby flexing!
After the park on the way home.

Fun Night

Monday when I got home we went to a park. It was 70 outside! These temps are nice now, but it scares me thinking about how hot this summer will be. So gross. The kids played and had fun. When the sun began to go down, we went to Academy and looked around. We are looking for new shoes for Aikman and Pippa. We had fun trying some on and looking at all the sports equipment. We then went to Tamolly’s to eat and it was already about 7:30! We then went driving around and listened to music and looked at some parks. We wanted to find some different ones to mix it up every now and then. Our last stop was Wendy’s for some Frosty’s. Monks wanted vanilla and Pippa got chocolate. She held it by herself and ate it as we drove home. She did really well on her own! Yes, she was sticky when we got home, but she sure enjoyed it! We got home about 9 but since I was off the next day we didn’t worry about putting the kids to bed a little late.

Weekend Update

Friday after work I picked up Adrian and took him home. Tio was surprising Tia with a night out. We went home and Adrian had been out of town for 2 weeks and this was the first time the kids had seen him since. Monks ran up to him and said “hey manny! I love you so much!” Pippa waved and smiled at him. They all had fun playing with cars and bubbles as I made dinner. We had pizza, salad, corn for the kids and pineapple. They all ate so much and then we went and played in Pippa’s room before we started getting ready for bed. They climbed on everything and had lots of fun with the kitchen. I sampled so much of what they made. Adrian and Pippa like to suck on the play food or the spoons and then give you a bite and will press it to your mouth. Yep, it’s all wet. Sweet of them to share though. We then got the babies ready for bed at 8:10 and I put up a playpen for Adrian in Aikman’s room. He got upset when I set him in it to put Pippa down and he made himself throw up. Poor guy. I got him new jammies and rinsed him off in the tub and set up the other playpen we have. Luckily we have two. He laid down and whined for a minute but was rubbing his eyes the whole time. He was sleepy. I washed all the other bedding and his jammies. Tio and Tia came over about an hour later and as soon as they walked in Aikman said “Adrian is asleep in my room. He threw up.” Lol. Thanks Monks. I had planned on him spending the night but he began to moan and make some noise when they were leaving about 11:15 or so and Jenny decided to just take him home so he could sleep comfortably. I had a fun night with my sweet nephew and I know the kids love being with him.

Saturday, we woke up and ate breakfast and then we got ready to pick up Tia and Adrian. We took the kids to the Kids Zone at the YMCA and Tia and I worked out. We did cardio and then hit the machines to work our arms and legs. We then went to sit in the sauna but she didn’t like it and about a minute in I had to go to the bathroom so we just went to sign the kids out. I took them home and we went home for lunch and naps. We had planned on going to the park in the afternoon with them, but my kids wouldn’t nap and Monks got in trouble for not going pee in the potty and putting an entire sheet of about 100 little star stickers on his wall. He got all of them off, lucky for him. It was a rough afternoon for my babies and so we just stayed home.

We made a bowl of pico for afternoon snack. It had onion, tomato, cilantro, avocado and lime juice. The kids ate it with chips and then Pippa finished it all off by eating it with a spoon. Yummy!

This boy and his pickles

Sunday, Monks and I woke up when Devin came home from work and we made breakfast. Devin made us eggs with mushrooms, onions, tomatoes and cilantro. We all had one turkey sausage patty and some cantaloupe. It was so good and the kids had seconds on their eggs! We then got ready to go out. I fixed my baby girl’s hair in pigtails for the first time ever and she looked beyond adorable. We went to Target and then to the park to play. The kids had so much fun. Pippa is a pro on the slides and loves the big twirly ones the most. She goes down on her own, gets to the bottom, turns over and gets down and runs back around to climb the whole thing again. Monks even wanted to catch her a few times. How sweet is that? I was so proud of my sweet boy also because he learned how to hang from the bars and let go on his own. He used to hang by himself, but you had to be right there and grab him when he said he was letting go. We told him he could do it and at first he hung there and Devin backed up and he yelled for Devin to grab him, but we told him to calm down and just fall to his feet. He said he was scared and we told him he was just fine. He let go and landed on his feet and I wish I had recorded his face. He smiled and stood up straight and said “I did it!” He was so proud of himself. He then wanted Devin to put him back up and he would drop after a few seconds. He did it repeatedly and after about a dozen times, he was good to go and had mastered it. We played for a good hour and then went home for lunch and naps. Both of them talked for about an hour and a half and then Pippa finally went to sleep. Aikman never slept and was up every ten minutes or so to go potty. I then walked in the bathroom and he had pumped the whole bottle of soap into the trashcan. It is one of those foamy ones and when I asked what he was doing he said it was to make it smell good. That bottle was about ¾ full and he emptied it all. Sigh. He was a little whiny that evening so he went to bed early too. I don’t know why my kids are fighting naps the last few days. They are crazy! When you walk into Pippa’s room she immediately lays down and closes her eyes so tight like “I am asleep.” It will be quiet and then about 10 minutes later she is up again just talking and talking. Aikman will be sitting in his bed and do the same thing and try to lie down as soon as you open the door. Yeah, because we didn’t just hear you singing and laughing within seconds of us opening your door. They can drive you crazy with that and then later they tell you they love you more than all the candy in the world or walk across the room to give you an open mouth kiss. Overall, the weekend was lots of fun and I look forward to being off tomorrow for Pippa’s check up.

She was looking at a bunny that moves.

Pips is Halfway to Two!

My baby girl is 18 months today! Half way to 2! Goodness! She is so funny and completes our family. I can’t imagine my life without her. She is growing up so fast. I daydream at times what she will be like as a little girl and a teenager and then I have to stop myself. I am no where ready for that anytime soon so let me just enjoy her at this moment in her preciousness. She loves animals, dogs and cats especially. Luckily we don’t have cats lol watch out Belle next time we come to Kerrville! She loves her big brother and always wants to be with him. She could eat her weight in macaroni and cheese and bananas. She also loves blueberries and blackberries. She now says “down” for when she wants down and the sweetest thing is when you ask her something and she says “uh-huh” in this airy sweet little voice. She doesn’t use yes or no. She says uh-huh and uh-uh. She loves swinging and reading books. She laughs every time daddy wrestles with her or her uncles body slam her on the couch. She keeps her necklaces on and carries her little purse so I can see her being pretty girly. I look forward to Barbie days. She has the cutest walk ever. She swings her little butt and hips. It is like with every step her waist turns a little bit and she moves her arms. I melt every time I see it.  She loves bath time. She has sensitive skin so she doesn’t get to enjoy bubbles and bath paint as much as I would like her to, but she enjoys her plastic sharks and mini cups to pour with. She will wash her hair if you tell her to and moves her sweet little fingers through her hair. If you ask her what the shark says, she will get one and act like it is biting her in the tummy and says “thom, thom, thom” for chomp, chomp, chomp. She says it in this raspy voice. Adorable! She tries to bark like a dog but her dog bark is so light and soft. She has started putting her finger up to her lips and going “shhhhhh!” If you tell her “Hulk Smash!!” she will make tiny fists and bang them on the couch or whatever surface she is near. She is so delicate as she does it. When she blows a kiss, she has to make this clicking sound and that is her kiss as she keeps her hand on her mouth. Of course she still does pretty girl. She will still put her hand up for you to assist her when walking out the door. It’s not because she can’t do it, it is because she wants to be led out like royalty. Lol. I swear to you she does some things like a little diva! I don’t say that to speak being spoiled and rotten over her, she just has things she wants done her way and if you don’t do it, she will let you know she disapproves. I know where she gets it from, I’m just saying. Lol. When she does something like that Devin always says “you are your mother’s daughter!” She sure is. When mad, nothing you say or do will affect her. When she is normal, if you get onto her, she will immediately start crying. One day she put her head down and started making tears and frowning and we told her to stop and she looked up to see if we were looking at her and then when she saw us, she began the pout again. We ignored her and after a few seconds when she looked up and saw no one was paying attention, she just stopped and went back to what she was doing. She was like oh, they aren’t watching. She does it on purpose. Can you say “chiflada” lol She will walk to time out and sit there until we let her up and comes and kisses us. All joking aside, she is the most precious little girl ever and I know I mention her little attitude but she has the best personality. She “talks” constantly and is always pointing and asking about stuff. Majority of the time she makes no sense, but she is curious. We always answer her back. Thanks for a great 18 months Pips! I adore you in more ways than you will ever know! You’re our little sunshine!

I have to add this. Okay, I am sure it was just coincidence but still. It was so sweet. I have shown her pics of my mom and dad and she will say Gigi but of course I have never sat down with her and told her about them being in heaven. Obviously she is too young to understand. The other night I asked her to say Gigi and she said it. I said where is Gigi, hoping she would point to the ginormous picture in our dining room of my mom that she always looks at, but she pointed straight up! I honestly kind of gasped and asked her again in front of Devin. Each time we asked she pointed up. Maybe my girl knows more than I thought…...

I added a few of the pics of recent I absolutely adore!

Long Weekend Update

Saturday Tio, Pete and Phil came over. We all hung out with the kids and then Devin woke up at noon and we went to have lunch at Wholly Cow. How awesome is that place? I had a burger in a lettuce wrap with onions, tomatoes and pickles. After a delicious lunch, the boys went home to get ready for work and Tio stayed with us. We went to the park by the zoo to feed the ducks and then to play at the park at Bassetti Elementary. It was then home for naps and Tio left to go to work. We hadn’t hung out in a few days and had lots of fun laughing and catching up.

Pips making a tower.
Aikman and I made a plane. He also told me at one point "momma, can you please help my sister make something?" Lol.
Looking at Tio
Okay, so that is bird poop. We had just got in the car and  I had not turned it on yet. My window was down maybe four inches. Talk about aim. We were all talking and then I felt this wet hit my arm and I was like what the heck and then I said something wet just got on me. I went to wipe my arm (just a small splatter thank God) and saw the wheel! Are you kidding me?? Everyone was laughing as I began soaking my napkins in hand sanitizer to clean it! Damn birds, see if I ever feed you again!

This was at Bassetti. How cute are they?
Look at the difference! That first pic was 11 months ago. Not babies anymore!

Sunday we had a yummy breakfast and then it was off to the park! The weather was so nice so we walked around the track/trail by the park and then went to play. The kids had lots of fun playing and swinging. Aikman loves running around and climbing on stuff and Pippa is becoming quite the little adventurer. She loves going down slides but you have to be right there by her or she will go down on her own and you have to remind her to sit on her bottom before she goes. She wasn’t sitting all the way once and slid down sideways and her boot skidded along the side. She didn’t cry but yelled/grunted her angry sound. I think it just made her mad she didn’t go as fast. We then went to get our bubbles out of the car to blow and we noticed the Festival Gardens was open. It is the big park across from the zoo that you rent for parties and it has a playground, a kitchen, volleyball, benches, huge slab of concrete and several places with picnic tables to eat at. Tio and Tia had their rehearsal dinner there. We went in, blew bubbles and then had a snack and then played. Aikman had never played there before and he said “oooh, this one is fan-ceeeeey!” Lol. What 3 year old says fancy? He loves climbing ladders and those twirly ladders and I would joke with him that I wasn’t sure he could do it, that he might be too small and he would show me and say see I did it! He loves to show off. When he would climb up something, he would say “I’m a superhero, I’m a superhero!” but he did it to this weird beat and kind of sang it as he walked around moving his shoulders up and down. Sweet boy. Pippa had lots of fun there too and loved playing on the slides. She went down one and Devin wasn’t quite there yet and she slid off. She whined but didn’t cry. She is so cute walking around and climbing stuff on her own. I love how independent they both are. We went home in the afternoon and put the kids down for naps. They woke up, we hung out and had dinner and Pete came over to watch the game with us.

In an airplane

Blowing bubbles. Sorry it is so dark.
Eating cheez its. Look at him eating the crumbs. Just like daddy lol

Adorable!

Monday was a holiday for me so I was so excited to have one more day with everyone. We woke up and after a breakfast of scrambled egg whites with mushrooms and cilantro (may sound like a weird combo, but was AMAZING) we began to do some cleaning! We did normal cleaning and got caught up on laundry but then we decided to clean out our kitchen cabinets! We got rid of so much stuff and did a deep cleaning of things. Nothing like cleaning the top of your fridge to make you feel gross. It was then lunchtime and we headed back to Festival Gardens for a picnic! Devin and I had turkey sandwiches while the kids had peanut butter with sprinkles. We had all kinds of fruit, applesauce, baked chips, water and veggie sticks! Unfortunately it was so cold with the wind! Didn’t seem that bad when we walked out of our house, but sitting under the covered patio eating was so cold! Poor Monks shivered a few times and we decided we had to leave. No play time. We did go to Lowe’s and priced stuff for some projects and then home for naps. We grilled that evening and it was so good. We made pork chops, baked potatoes and shish kabobs. They had zucchini, mushrooms, onions and tomatoes on them. The kids had hot dogs but ended up eating pork chops as well. We also made broccoli and mac and cheese for the kids. Everyone enjoyed themselves! I love that my kids love veggies. We then did baths and read a few books. I always wish my weekends were longer but I am still grateful for that quality time with my three little loves.

Applesauce, sandwich, grapes
Sandwich, oranges, grapes, a pickle and a smoothie
