A "Crappy" Time

My poor husband. Monk’s poor dad. I got a text from Devin a little while ago that had a picture in it. In the picture was my sweet boy’s crib…….with poop everywhere! He said he wondered why Aikman had not fallen asleep yet and heard him just talking and talking. Monks knows how to take off his diaper apparently and did just that when he did not want to take his nap and was dirty. Devin gave him a bath of course and had to change and wash all his bedding. Devin is not one for poop, not that anyone wants to play in it, but I can just picture him gagging as he cleaned it up. After about 25 minutes, I got a text with a picture of monks eating a snack and Devin wrote that it was a good thing monks was cute. J
Normally I would be sad to miss a “first” but this one I have to admit, not so much.

A Little Text to Say......

Monks had Tia’s iphone and she had it to where you have to slide your finger across the screen to unlock it to be able to use it. That may be a standard iphone thing but we don’t all have fancy phones like Tia so when she busts out cool things like Talking Tom we play with him for hours. Anyway, she gave him her phone in the car to hold because he was getting restless. She had a picture of monks as her background and he enjoyed kissing it several times. She heard some noise on it and took it to look at it and he had unlocked it and was texting! On the iphone! Guess who he was texting? Me! He had started to text the letter “M”. Say what you will, call it a coincidence or just pure luck, but I think he was going to write and say mom, I love you. Clearly that was his intention. Well my monkey, I love you more.

It's the Freakin Weekend!

Saturday it poured from early morning until about 2:30 in the afternoon. Monks and I slept in until 10! I had not planned on sleeping that late. We had errands to run to help Tia get ready for her Halloween Party/Fall Fest for her and Tio’s youth group. I fed us breakfast and then loaded up to go to Sam’s and Target. Monks never got wet once again thanks to umbrellas, the swiftness of his Tia and me dropping them off at the door. We bought Aikman some new shoes Saturday; my sweet boy is in a size 7! His tennis shoes look great on him and he got some new jeans and a cute shirt. I will have to post pics of them. He looks like such a big boy walking in tennis shoes. After running around and getting decorations and food, we went to Gigi’s house to make cupcakes and so I could start cleaning. I put monks down for a nap in his playpen in Pete’s old room and he was not happy with that! He cried for nearly twenty minutes. I am not sure if it’s because he was really sleepy or what. My poor guy. I stayed strong and left him and he slept like a prince for about two and a half hours.
While I was cleaning Gigi’s house, he was randomly walking around and would bring me things and he felt the need to bring everything off the tray in the living room she had. One minute he was carrying a package of crackers, then remotes, (yes plural, there were several) then a card and when he walked up with her glasses we were like hey precious, play with your toys. He seemed to want everything he could not have that day. Then he was eating goldfish and I would find random goldfish on the floor and after vacuuming, sweeping and mopping, that was not cool with Mommy. J We watched Scooby Doo and ate watermelon and after the watermelon monks needed a bath so Devin gave him one and then we decided to go because it was getting late.
Sunday was a lazy day and we just played and watched kid friendly Halloween movies. My monkey had his first caramel apple!! Tia had some left from her party and brought us some along with mummy cupcakes. Aikman and I shared it and I would bite him chunks off and he would suck the caramel off, eat the apple and then spit out the skin. It was so cute how he did it as he never took it out of his mouth. He loved it. Apollo wanted in on them but we were not sharing with him. These were ours!

I Want Candy!

My precious boy has had a real sweet tooth lately. Gigi has a square jar of M&M’s on a side table in her dining room and he will walk up to it and then look at us and then stand there. If you don’t respond by getting up to get him one, he will point at them and look at you like oh, you must not have got it, I want one of these. Who knew 3 M&M’s could make someone so happy? I have to be honest though, the whole melt in your mouth, not in your hands thing is a total lie. I have to make sure to give him one at a time or it gets messy. Every time we go to her house he goes over to them and waits for some. I like to hear them crunch when he bites down on them. He also ate a Sour Patch watermelon chew last night. He bit into it, made the best face and continued to chew it and leaned in for the rest.
He also had an obsession with these Lays BBQ chips yesterday. I really don’t think he has ever had one, but he kept pointing at the bag and wanting Tia to give him one. He was not feeling his pizza, only the chips. After a few we had to cut him off. He was not too happy but once he saw some tomatoes and roast and corn he was over the chips and ate his dinner.
When we got home Devin bathed him while I got his stuff ready for today. All I heard from the bathroom was laughter, splashing and Devin doing the best voices and sound effects for all his bath toys! How do guys know how to do that??  All I can do is like an English or Brooklyn accent and that does not sound too cool coming from a blue penguin or a purple walrus. Anyway, they had a great time in the bath and I walked in the room to find a naked monkey brushing his teeth.

Loaded Evening

Last night we went to Gigi’s house and had dinner all together. Jeanette and Gramita cooked a great meal. We all ate until we were stuffed and then played a fun game called Loaded Questions. It was a very fun evening. Monks walked everywhere!! He was walking through the kitchen, around the table, he was non-stop! I would classify him as a walker now. It is the most adorable thing to see. He still keeps his hands up but I love it! He did fall once and hit his mouth on the wood floor but only cried for a little while. Only downfall to them walking—falling! I know its part of them learning and kids will get hurt but man it’s so scary and too sad when it happens, especially to your own. He was just randomly walking around and then saw some cake on the table so stopped and leaned on the bench and pointed for some. He had a little piece and drank a small glass of milk with it. He was so sweet eating.
When we left Gigi’s, it was so nice out so we drove home with the windows down and sang some good music. Monks loves music and bobs his head to the beat. He also started doing this crazy thing with his hands. When we had left the pumpkin patch Saturday Tio was telling him to do a fist pump like on Jersey Shore and he was trying to. It did not look just like Tio’s but was close. He waves his hand in front of his face or on the side of his head to the beat. Ever since then, when music is on, he incorporates his hands too and just chills in his car seat. I love to look back and see him just chillin like a little villain.
He did stay up forty minutes past his bedtime but he was able to sleep late today since daddy was off again with him.

A Monkey's Uncle

Monday night Phil decided to spend the night since Devin was off Tuesday and they stayed up late watching the Rangers game and playing Madden. I went in the room and watched Friday the 13th until about 10:30 and then called it a night. I do remember waking up at 3 and having to tell my husband and 22 year old brother they were being just a little too loud and I did not want them to wake monks. Madden is an exciting game, what can I say. Anyway, at 5:30 I heard Monks cry and so I waited a second and never heard another thing. I laid there expecting to hear a moan or talking or whining but nothing. I fell back asleep. Then at 5:50 I heard a loud cry and so I got up to check on him. As I walked down the hall I noticed monk’s light was on. I opened his door and found Phil holding monks in his chair and rocking him. He had a blanket wrapped around him and monks had his arms around his neck. They both looked at me and Phil said “How do I get this god to go back to sleep?” I said how long have you had him and he said he heard him earlier so got up to get him. I went to get his milk and changed his diaper. When I laid him back in bed Phil covered him up and he just smiled at Phil. He sure loves his uncle.

The Scarecrow Walks At Midnight

So my monkey is not a scarecrow nor is he up walking at midnight but that book kicks butt.
My monkey is getting to be such a big boy. We went to Abuelo’s last night for dinner. He was so good sitting in his high chair. He never tried to rip his rubber placemat thing off the table. He ate all his rice and most of his beans and played with more of his quesadilla than he actually ate but he was wonderful. Devin and I tried to show him what the crayons could do but he wanted to hold them more than he wanted to attempt to color. He only tried putting them in his mouth a few times but when he was told not to do that, he stopped. Such a good boy. A little girl at the table behind us started throwing a fit and he just stared at her and I just wondered what he was thinking right then.
When we got home, we all sat around in the living room and Devin and Phil were watching the Rangers game. I can’t seem to find anything interesting about baseball, but that’s just me. Monks was showing off his walking skills to everyone! He walked across that whole living room floor. Grandma Frances got so excited when she reached for him and he walked to her several times and then would bury his face in her lap. He is so funny in that he keeps his hands above his head. He has to have them up to walk. It is the best thing to watch. He walked all the way from the ottoman to the entertainment center and just when he was about to touch it he turned and walked toward the hallway but then snuck in behind the chair. He walked so much! He was non stop for so long he got thirsty and when he saw a glass of water on the table he pointed to it and chugged it. It was so funny.
Looks like this week we will be getting new shoes! He has a lot of shoes but he has already grown out of all his size 5’s and some of his size 6’s. I guess we will go to Payless to have his foot measured and then go from there. It's so exciting to see how he changes daily and the little boy he is becoming. I def do not see him as a baby anymore and I am okay with that.

These Boots Were Made for Walkin.......

Monks has taken a few steps before (three at the most) but this weekend he was a walking wild man! He took five one day in the living room and when I would come in from a different room he would be standing in the middle of the floor all by himself! Sunday night was the best. We have some video and I will get that on soon. He would go from Gigi in one chair, to me on the couch to Devin in the other chair and then just go back and forth. He did it for nearly fifteen minutes. The longest was from the table to the entertainment center! We were cheering for him and he would just be squealing and laughing. He walks with his hands up and it is so sweet to see. We had so much fun with him walking all around the living room.

There's a Snake In My Boot!

So how precious are these pajamas?? I thought he looked adorable! Maybe he can ride Apollo like Bullseye!

Look Ma! No Pants!

Monks woke up from his nap and was talking so I went in to get him up. I walk in to find his two monkeys, blanket and bottle on the floor. He was standing in the bed just smiling and smiling. I then noticed his diaper. It was sitting at his feet. He had taken it completely off and was standing there with just a t shirt on. He started jumping. With no pants. I had to get the camera.

Junk In the Trunk

I have mentioned the crazy stuff Monks puts in his car numerous times. After his sweet self was in bed, I took everything out and took pics of it all. So behold his random junk in the trunk!

We have from left to right a cow, a truck, a lion, a phone, the screaming pumpkin, a picture of mommy and daddy, another truck, a saw, a treasure chest, Lightning McQueen, a monkey, a fake flicker candle thing, Frankenstein and a ghost that changes colors.

My Monkey

So I swear this Buzz car was the best investment we ever made. He loves it and pushes it in every direction in the house and then turns around and goes the other way. He was being silly last night. My favorite one is the 3rd one, I wish I had video of it. He was "dancing" and had his tongue out and making this crazy squealing noise. It was one of the funniest things I have ever seen him do. I heart him!
