Monkey Date

The day before Easter, Devin and I took our sweet Aikman on a monkey date. Pete and Nicole kept Pippa for us, so after dropping her off we went to have lunch at Mr. Gattis, his choice. After a yummy lunch, we headed over to Payless to buy some new chanclas. We had received a flyer in the mail and they showed Captain America flip-flops and he fell in love with him. Being the sweet boy he is, while shopping, he saw some princess flip-flops and suggested we get those for Pippa. When he is not with her, he asks about her or wonders what she's doing. She does the same thing when not with him. How sweet is that? We then headed to the movie theater to see the new Captain America that's out! We were about 20 minutes early, but the line was crazy long. Being Easter weekend, I thought maybe some of those people would be there to see the new God is not Dead or Heaven is Real movies. I was wrong! LOL. Monks and I went to find a seat while Devin waited in the concession line. When we walked in the theater, it was packed! We ended up having to sit in the bottom row, like floor level. It was still a good seat, and my monkey was happy, which is all that mattered. We had popcorn, Icees, and two different types of candy! We were set. The movie was a little over two hours, but Monks enjoyed every minute of it. We did have to take one potty break but that was expected. He had the best time and thanked us afterward. He was so sweet and we enjoyed it so much. We want to make it a monthly thing, alternating between Monkey and Pips dates. Just a little way to spend extra one on one time with our sweet babies. Plus, they love getting to pick where we go eat and what we do.

Good Friday

Good Friday I was off, but Devin and I had some secret running around to do, so we took the kids to school and just picked them up early. We surprised them with lunch from Chick-fil-A, one of their favorite places to eat. I also had to take some small Easter treats we had made with powdered doughnuts and free printable's online that said Hoppy cottontails. When we picked up the kids, they both had really good days, so we stopped by sonic to get a yummy drink. We then came home and changed into some scrubby clothes for some real fun! It was bathtime for Apollo! I can't remember the last time we gave him a bath, so he really enjoyed this. The kids, especially Pippa, were not too happy with Apollo shaking everywhere lol but they did help a bunch. They even enjoyed brushing him. After he was all clean and brushed, Devin hooked the hose up to a sprinkler so the kids could play for a little while. They really enjoyed it and is hot as it was, we didn't mind getting splashed or wet hugs. We hung out the rest of the day, and watched Toy Story 3 on TV that evening. It ended at nine, which was passed the kids bedtime, but we had let them stay up since it was Friday. It was about 9:25 by the time we got them in bed and lights off, and Devin and I went back to the living room. We both sat on the couch and tossed the remote back-and-forth. Neither of us felt like flipping through the channels. Lol. We then decided we were ready for bed too ha ha. It was barely 9:35 and we were going to bed. Oh well. We knew we had a busy weekend ahead!

I Love Baseball

Okay, actually I don't love baseball, I just love seeing my baby play. He is learning and watches the older kids on his team. I kind of like the age range of 4-6 so that he gets to play with more experienced players. He gets shy at bat sometimes and doesn't give it his all and last week had to hit from the tee. Devin has been working with him though and at practice last night he was swinging hard and hit several pitches. We were so proud of him but most importantly, he was proud of himself! At last week's game, he was sad afterwards and told Devin it was because he wasn't able to get the ball each time. When it's hit, you know several of the kids will run after the ball and Monks felt bad he only got it once. We made sure to tell him he was trying his best, just like his teammates, and not to be upset. He understood and was good to go! We don't have a game this week since it's Easter weekend and practice Thursday was optional. We went. Aikman wanted to and we would like for him to get all the practice he can. Sweet boy.

A Lucas Update

I feel as if I haven't posted about this little guy in forever! He is an absolute doll, and our entire family just adores him. We knew we would, of course lol but he is even more precious than I could ever have imagined. I can't believe how fast this year has gone by and how big he is now. He is going on eight months old, and crawls everywhere! He is so fast at pulling himself up to a complete stand as well. Aikman loves him. He is always trying to help him do something, or just share toys with him. Pippa, on the other hand, just wants to baby him. She is always walking by him and kissing or hugging him. They both love having him around and get so excited when they get to see him. I am so glad they have another cousin who is close in age that they will grow up with. Enjoy these precious pics of our sweet little Lucas a.k.a. Bork. Don't ask me where that nickname came from, that's just what he's called. Lol.

Monkey's First Project

My monkey had his first school project! We were so so excited and couldn't wait to find out exactly what we had to do. It was over flat Stanley. He is a popular character in a book that is flat, obviously, so he can go several places and on several adventures. Monks' assignment was to mail him to any family outside of Abilene, and have them take Stanley on an adventure! When we first discussed what had to be done, Aikman said "I am sending him to Kerrville!" Kerrville is Aikman's go to vacation spot lol He wrote a letter to Big Tio and Tia explaining what needed to be done. They received flat Stanley and showed him an awesome time! Big Tio took him to the Kerrville police department with him and Stanley rode in patrol cars. Big Tia took him to Fredericksburg and showed him around and to different parts of Kerrville. They mailed him back about a week later, and emailed me several pictures that they had taken. Stanley then began his adventure to Virginia! Horns and Karen took him around and took him to Washington DC! Stanley got the best history lesson imaginable! Monks was very impressed with the pictures that were emailed to me. He liked seeing Stanley and learning so much! He loves telling us how George Washington was the first president of United States. After Stanley's trip to Virginia, he was sent off to visit Mike, Jenny, and Adrian! He could only stay the weekend, because he was about to be due at school! Tia and Manny showed him an awesome weekend and Aikman loved seeing all the pictures of them together. It was cute having Adrian help out. Once he had all the pictures organized, he was able to fill out his journal. He had to fill in dates, where Stanley went, and what he did. He was very proud of himself and everything he had done. We appreciate everyone who helped him out and helped him make his first school project a huge success! Thanks for being the best family ever! We received about 15 pictures from everyone, so I had Aikman pick his favorites from each place to post here!

Stanley bought Monks a superhero sticker and brought it home with him.

Monks' First Fundraiser

It may sound corny but I am a mom that gets teary eyed and squeals with excitement when something that shows my kids have arrived at real person status occurs. For example, since turning four, we have to pay for Aikman at places like buffets and movies. Only three and under are free. He's a real person now. He gets the order form for his cap and gown pics. Um, real person status! He will be in kindergarten! He is working on his first school project! More to come on that, but hello! Fake kids don't do projects! Real school kids do! Little things like that make me excited! Imagine my delight at his first baseball practice (non tee ball!) when the coach's wife handed out his fundraiser packet. My eyes lit up! I might have seriously squealed. Devin might have rolled his eyes. Lol. He is selling peelers to raise money for his league. They give you ten to sell and they are $20 a piece. A little pricy, but these are awesome ones! You will easily get your money's worth. They have several buy one get ones on there. Things like wings from Buffalo Wild Wings, six inch subs from Subway, free burgers from Sonic, free blizzards, the list goes on and on! We made it our goal to help our baby sell, sell, sell. We have sold 20 to date, I don't know when it's all due, but we know we have this week for sure. I also typed up some thank you letters and he will fill in the blanks. Even though it's a fundraiser, he won't forget his manners! I made it a little easier on him though and had him fill in his team name and his name and made copies of it. Now he just fills in who bought them! The kid has twenty names to write so I cut him some slack! Lol.

I forgot to mention, they are supposed to have their last names on their jerseys but Aikman and a kid named Riley got their first names lol the coach's wife offered to change it, but we said it was all good. My number 1 stands out! Precious boy!

The peelers! Kind of hard to read but I promise, they are great deals!

Precious yellow jackets! Lol
