The Hulk

Monks has been doing this crazy thing where if you ask him to "do the Hulk" he clenches his fists and teeth and makes this wild face. He started doing that about 9 months and we would all die laughing but now he can do it on command since we named it. I promise we don't normally treat him like a dog and give him commands. This one is just too cute though!

Monkey Missed Riding On A Float!

So since we had been sick the previous weekend, we were not able to participate in the Christmas parade. Highway Patrol was in it this year, for the first time ever, and I was so excited to have Monks and Devin ride while I handed stuff out to the kids. He was not majorly sick but I could not risk him getting worse. I went back to work Tuesday but still felt miserable and I decorated the float so I figured I had still contributed. There was no way I could walk that mile and a half with my chest feeling the way it did and my runny nose and cough. Heck, I would have struggled completely well! Lol So the Anderson family sat this one out. I was disappointed but we come first so next year, you all better watch out! We are stealing the show!

"Cold" Weekend

We had a cold front come in for Thanksgiving. It was in the high 30's, low 40's. It makes it nice to be inside and stay in your pajamas and watch movies and play all day. I think the cold though gave us all a little cold. All three of us woke up Saturday with runny noses and just not feeling too good. I hated it but it was nice to have the weekend to rest. We stayed away from Gigi (which was no fun) so we would not give her anything and rested. The great thing about monks is he never acts sick. He is not fussy or clingy or rubbing his ears or anything. That can also be bad to not know how extreme his cold is when he shows no signs. Devin and I had it the worst and Monday I stayed home and Devin had not gone in the night before. I called Monday first thing to get him an appointment because he had started a small cough and that made me nervous, he has never had a cough and I just knew he had the start of pneumonia or something crazy. Devin called me on the way home from the pediatrician and said it was just a cold brought on by his teething. Poor man has 6 coming in right now and most of them are his molars. That caused the runny nose and the cough was just it clearing itself out. His ears and throat looked great and his chest sounded just fine. He did give us an antibiotic just for prevention and he had to take 1/2 teaspoon for 5 days. Here is my sick monkey.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving was so nice! We went to Gigi's and everyone was there and even Tio Bill, Tia Net and Gramita came down. It was a day full of fun, food, family and football! Nothing better than that right? I was so excited since even though this was Monks second Thanksgiving, it would be the first time he was able to eat it! He LOVED everything! He had turkey (one fried and one I did with a brine), ham, twice baked potatoes, sweet potatoes, broccoli rice casserole, corn casserole, homemade mac and cheese, dressing and Gigi's cranberry salad. I would have to say his absolute favorites though were ham, sweet potatoes and the cranberry salad. He ate so much of it!!

Then Vs. Now

My monkey at 3 months, Thanksgiving 2009:

Monks at 15 months, Thanksgiving 2010:

How much do I love this boy?? His smile melts my heart. Think he looks similar or does he look like a completely different little guy now?

Building Vocabulary!

Aikman has been talking so much lately! He has always been a talker and some type of gibberish comes out but he is repeating a lot and knows the meaning to so much it amazes us! He says on a regular basis: Hi, Bye or Bye-Bye, No, Yeah, Mama, Dad or Dada. He has started saying Apollo! He of course can’t say it properly and says “Paw-yoh” He will yell it repeatedly from his crib until Apollo sits in his doorway and when we come into the house and Apollo greets us at the door he says his name. It is the sweetest thing!

He also understands so much. When we say we are going somewhere he goes to the door, he knows what his shoes are and where they go on his body. He knows where his teeth are and what it means to brush your teeth. When we ask if he is ready for a bath, he will go to the bathroom and he tries to pull his pants down or take off his shirt. When we ask if he is ready to change his diaper he goes to his room to the changing table. He points at things he wants and knows where Gigi keeps her candy. When he eats something he likes he nods his head several times like oh yeah, this is great and makes the sweetest face. When we put him down in bed, he lays down but then when you walk out he gets back up and I always walk out telling him good night and I love him and he yells bye to you several times until you tell him bye back and then lays down. His old arch nemesis the iron pig at Gigi’s now gets a pat on the back every time he walks in her house. Every. Time. He loves to dance and when certain songs come on the radio he will bob his head, move side to side, or do fist pumps. He loves the popular Usher song on the radio, LOVES Keshia, loves Katy Perry, loves the song on the commercial for an I Pad where it is like a piano key playing-he will come from another room if he hears it to dance, and Gigi’s new peanut butter song. I am sure there are things I am forgetting but he does hilarious things all the time! He is very smart and I love watching him figure stuff out. He is learning how to get on and off his Buzz car and his horse on his own. This is such a fun age!
