Kerrville Day 3

Friday morning we woke up and had breakfast and then walked along the river with the kids. Monks had been dying to swim in the river so this was his chance. Devin took him in and Tio took in Adrian. Adrian wasn’t that into it so he sat on the side with me. I put my feet in, but that is it. I am an ocean girl, NOT a river/lake girl. Tio took Monks and Devin took Pippa out into the water. I wish I had video. They both slipped about 4 times each! I was proud of them, because each time they slipped, you heard “oh shit” and then saw a kid being raised out of the water. They kept my babies up! I was laughing so hard and luckily they weren’t hurt. Tio did break his flip flop though. We owe him a pair for keeping Monks safe. They went over halfway across the river and then headed back to shore. So much fun. We then went to meet Pete and Phil and Tia at the pool for some swim time before check out. We were the only ones in the pool. I have to brag on my monkey. He is such an awesome swimmer! He wears his little vest but jumps in himself and holds his breath and can even swim underwater for a good while. Such a little fish! We then went to Tia Nette’s to say our goodbyes. We debated eating those yummy leftovers, but then we also wanted Fuddruckers! You CAN’T pass that up. We decided on a burger so went to eat and then headed home. Monks rode with Tia and Tio the whole time and absolutely loved it! They have DVD players in their car and stop often for snacks and drinks. Can’t beat that! He was in heaven. We got home about 5:45 and ordered pizza and hung out and got ready for the game the next day!

Monks is waving!

Kerrville Day 2

The day of the funeral we woke up and got ready and met at the church. I was pleased with how the kids behaved. Pips had one moment where she cried when I didn’t let her leave the pew, but I knew she would stop soon, so I didn’t take her out. It lasted maybe a minute. We then went into a reception hall for a brunch. We had sandwiches, deviled eggs, fruit, chips, dips and desserts. It was all very yummy and the kids enjoyed running around on a stage at the back of the room. We then headed out for the cemetery at Ft. Sam Houston where my grandfather is buried. Gramita’s ashes were buried in the same spot. We had a nice little service out there and then had the most wonderful balloon release to honor her. Each of her children had a balloon and we took one for my mom and dad also. All the grandchildren had one of a certain color and the great grandchildren too! Pete was even given one for Lucas! THAT was so sweet. We watched them float away and up to heaven! We rejoice below; they rejoiced above! We then got home in time to change and get ready for our pool party and meal! Big Tio and Tia Nette reserved their pool house and their neighbors were so generous and prepared a potluck style meal for us! The tables were all set and the most yummy foods were set out! My absolute fav was the chip style strips with the parmesan cheese and spices. TO DIE FOR! I ate the leftovers on the way home the next day. The WHOLE gallon size Ziploc bag! Lol. Anyone looking for a birthday present come October for me? Make me those. We all ate and swam and toasted a small cup of Mogen David to honor Gramita. I don’t know how she drank it. Lol. So gross. It was her favorite though! We then swam some more and called it a night around 9. We headed back to the cabins and the guys had bedtime kid duty and Tia and I hit up the hot tub! We enjoyed a good 30 minutes in there and then walked around talking. It felt weird to me not having Gramita around at random times. We sure did celebrate her though and I know she would have wanted us to! She also advised us not to wear black at her funeral ever so we all opted for brighter colors. That's just how the Anderson/Silva/Cafferty/Garcia fams roll though. :)

Kerrville Day 1

We got to Kerrville around noon and a yummy lunch was being prepared! We had grilled burgers and sausage and several yummy salads and all the trimmings. After catching up with everyone and getting full, we headed to our cabins! They are right on the Guadalupe River and are so neat! I absolutely loved them! They had two rooms, a full kitchen complete with pans, plates, glasses and silverware for six. Devin, Pete, Jenny and Adrian took a nap but the rest of us hit up the pool! We then got ready for dinner at this Mexican place Gramita loved. We had lots of fun being all together and then went our separate ways for the funeral the next day!

They were redoing the roads throughout their community and Horns took Aikman down to take the workers bottled water and see the equipment up close! They even got in it! Talk about the highlight of his trip! Monks was soooo excited.

Happy Birthday Tia

Tuesday the 11th was Tia’s birthday! The big 28! They were coming in town that evening so we could all leave in the morning for Kerrville. Monks and I made her a cake and we had it ready with some vanilla ice cream for her! We had a fun night and after everyone was in bed and Devin was at work, Tia and I sat on my bed and talked until 2:30 in the morning! Yeah, we had to be up at 6:30 to get ready. Ha ha. We had lots of fun though. Happy Birthday Tia! We love you so much!

June is a busy month. The 4th is our anniversary, the 6th is my father in law’s birthday and even though he has passed, we still celebrate him and then Tia’s is the 11th! So many wonderful things to celebrate!

Weekend Update

Saturday was our game and before that, we had pictures made. Oh em gee. They took individual ones and then team ones and he even took some of Devin with just Monks! I could have died! Can you say cuteness overload? I can’t wait to get them. Our game went great and we were so proud of the kids! We used our own tee to bat and it worked SOOO much better. All our kids hit on the first time with it! We actually got some outs too! They were hustling out there! We did have three players fight over the ball a few times, but it was obvious they were all just eager to play! Can’t fault them for that! The game flew by and we had a great time. My monkey did a great job and ran to first base as soon as he batted.

We then went home and were so sweaty and dirty, we cooled off by washing our car! The kids helped Devin while I swept in the garage. They then helped Devin clean out his police car! Monks was a huge help and so excited to help. Pips helped, but then enjoyed pretending she was steering the car. We then were hot and wet so decided to slip on our bathing suits and go swimming! We went to the YMCA and swam for about an hour and a half. We came home, had naps and then played in the backyard and inside. We had a yummy dinner of parmesan crusted tilapia, green beans and garlic and rosemary roasted potatoes. The kids hated the potatoes but I expected that. They will only eat French fries and occasionally Pips will eat a baked potato. Other than that, they don’t touch them. The fish and green beans were devoured though. And they both HAVE to have lemon squeezed on their fish. Devin had to work at IHOP that night and then called out to assist with a wreck, so he got home at 5:15 that Sunday morning.

The kids were up at 7 so I got up with them and we had breakfast and began our day. We had a few things to try out! We made some frozen surprises! You put a small toy in a balloon, fill it with water, enough to cover it and freeze it. Once frozen, cut off the balloon and let your kid play with it and break it to get out their toy! We used random things around the house so we had a tiger, some snakes, a ring and a bunny. Waiting for them to freeze was tough for the kids, but once they were told we could play after naps, that gave them something to look forward to. While our prizes froze, we made some Kool-Aid playdoh! Monks chose grape as his flavor and it smelled so good! He played for a while with it, Pips only a little while. She doesn’t like getting too messy or having weird things in her hand. We also filled some balloons with Playdoh and drew faces on them. The faces came off, but they had a fun time squishing them and squeezing them. We also made a tent under the kitchen table and took turns jumping from pillow to pillow on the floor. We rounded up some thick throw pillows and they had a blast! After naps, it was time for our prizes! I gave the kids three frozen “eggs” each and they took them outside. Again, Pips lost interest within minutes since they were so cold and let Aikman break them for her, so she could have the prize. Aikman threw them on the ground and it would chip away at the ice. Apollo tried eating all of them, and may have managed to swallow one of our tiny snakes. We can’t find it. Lol. They had so much fun playing with the toys and it was so hot so we decided to get out our bucket and play in the water. Pete and Phil then came over and we all had dinner and hung out. They left and then we all cleaned up as a family. Monks is on this cleaning kick. Give that boy a Lysol wipe, and your walls will be spotless! I did pack Pippa’s and Monks’ clothes for our Kerrville trip this week! Although it is for Gramita’s funeral, we are so excited to see everyone! It will definitely be a celebration!
