Aikman's 3 Year Check-Up

Monks had his three year check up the other day. It went extremely well, as expected. I thought he was getting a shot this time around so we built him up for it so he wouldn’t be scared at all. He never cried as a baby when he got them and the nurses always thought he was so tough. We kept showing him what it would feel like and I told him he could do it and be a big boy. He asked me if he would cry and I said no, I don’t think you will. He then told me that Pippa cries when she gets them and I said yes, but Pippa is a baby and a drama queen and you’re my big boy. We waited and of course he had to do every puzzle in the room. He moved so much on that little paper on the table it was all bunched up. The nurse came in to weigh him and see how tall he was. Devin went out in the hall with him while Pippa and I stayed in the room. He said he was 39 inches tall (that’s over a yardstick!) and Devin said he missed his weight but I am pretty sure he is around 40 pounds. Dr. Steadman then came in and Aikman was just talking away. We were in the game room and it has Candy Land painted all on the walls. He was talking about the characters and how silly they were and Dr. Steadman was just agreeing with him. When he listened to him breathe, he was sitting up on the edge of the table and looking right at me. He had the goofiest face and I tried so hard not to laugh. Aikman saw me and said super loud “hey what’s so funny momma??” I said nothing, you are just silly. We asked some questions and Aikman just sat there quietly. We were finishing up and the doctor went to leave and Aikman said hey, where’s my poke? He was referring to his shot and come to find out, you get them when you are 4, not 3. We hyped him up for nothing. Poor little guy was actually disappointed he did not get a shot. He then got very excited because he got a sticker and a lollipop instead. Pippa got a sticker too just because. J One of the nurses always talks about how pretty their eyes and how long their eyelashes are and she always jokes with monks to give her his eyes. He always laughs but he has some nervous sound to it like is she serious? Lol. Pippa was just smiling at everyone and blowing kisses. Of course they find her absolutely adorable. I love that office so much. Such great people.

Misc Pics

We went to Olive Garden one evening and Pips tore up some spaghetti. She LOVES it. She also loved the tomatoes from the salad and bread sticks.

These two were from Children's Place and Target. How adorable is my baby in his hat?? And my little celebrity baby girl.

Haircuts and Playtime

The day we went to the zoo we also went to get haircuts! Monks was in desperate need of one before his party and Pips needed her trim, especially her bangs. Aikman's was so long, Devin gave him a little buzz with the longest guard a few days before we took them. They both sit so well and enjoy it. Aikman always picks to watch Cars while he gets his cut and Carolina, their “stylist” knows what he wants before he even asks. Pippa’s hair is getting so much longer now and the back has these delicate little curls. They are so cute. After the haircuts, we went to the park to play. Devin chased Aikman everywhere while Pippa and I just chilled on the playground. She wasn’t that into swinging that day so we just hung out at the top of one of the slides. Devin sent my poor baby girl down the twirly slide alone and you should have seen her face. Um, not cool. She rolled over too onto her stomach and kind of tumbled. It sounds worse than it was lol and we did laugh seeing it. She just looked at him like what the heck was that. She did enjoy climbing through the tunnel and going down the baby slide.

Before.......
After!

All three swinging. Pips looks so tiny. :)

She loved just walking around up there and looking down.

He Pooped, He Pooped!

I have got to share this and I know I am behind on it, but Tuesday, the 21st when Aikman woke up, he pooped in the potty!! The day after he turns three he goes! It was his first time and we were so so excited. He sleeps in a diaper at night only and when he wakes up, he is in the habit now of taking his diaper off, going pee and putting on his underwear. He did that and I was in the room and I heard him outside the bathroom door kind of grunting. I said do you need to poop and he said yes so I said hurry, get on the potty! He took off his underwear in a hurry and a little had already come out, but as soon as he sat down, the rest did and he just looked at me and smiled like I did it! I of course was almost in tears and he finished, flushed the toilet and washed his hands. I hugged him and the first thing he said to me was “that not so scary, I please get my cars now?” Lol. I agreed there was nothing scary about it and then handed him his cars. It is the same pack of cars we bought him the day we bought his underwear so it has been almost a month that he just had to stare at them and hold them in the box. We immediately ran in to tell Devin and he was so excited too. We then opened his cars and texted everyone that he had done it! I was so proud of him. He has the peeing down and is so cute when we are out and he tells us “I need to go potty.” I love those words. He has not pooped in the potty since, but that is progress and a huge step for my big boy. We are still working on it and I know it is just a matter of time before he does it on a regular basis. Congrats monkey, we are so proud of what a big boy you are and how much you have accomplished!

Zoo Trip!

One day last week we took the kids to the zoo. It was insanely perfect out. It was cloudy and drizzled a few times but was not humid at all. It was low 70’s and felt amazing. We had so much fun. It wasn’t crowded either being a weekday and we had so much of it to ourselves. Aikman was free to run and play and he even got to feed the giraffes. He has done it before but there just always happens to be about 10 other kids around trying to feed too so it is not as personal. This time it was just him. The giraffe’s tongue touched his hand and he laughed so hard. We has such a great time. Pippa loved the big spider monkeys. One came and sat right on the glass ledge and stared at her and she was just hysterical. It even followed her hand on the glass which was so neat to her. I guess too with the temp being so nice all the animals were out. The tiger was laying out on its little house and the bear was up walking around and even stood up on the fence line. That thing was huge! It was such a nice day and when it was time to leave we stopped in the Zoo Store. Aikman looked around and just had to have these plastic animals. They were similar to the ones Horns sent him in a package (which he absolutely adores) but these were endangered animals. I can’t tell you how many times I find a rhino under the edge of the couch or step on a giraffe walking through the kitchen. He loves them all and couldn’t wait to “combine” both collections at home. What a great day. (Insert the Fresh Beat Band’s song) Lol.

How cute are they?
How cute are we? Lol.

Feeding...

They were moving their hands....
Look at the jaguar! I called it a leopard and Monks told me no momma, it's a cheetah. Lol.

My little safari boy. His animals are in that green bag.

The Mini Celebration

Aikman decided for his birthday he wanted to go to Mr. Gatti’s for dinner. They all picked me up from work and we went to Target and K-Mart to get him a little something. He wanted a pack of Hot Wheels. Shocker I know. It was a big 20 pack and he was SO excited about it. He was just begging us to open it as soon as we got in the car. At K-Mart he fell in love with this green trash truck and just had to have it. We debated about letting him get stuff with his party being Saturday, but hey, you only turn three once right? Devin said what kid is fascinated by trash trucks? Yes, our children are weird sometimes. While we were checking out, Horns called to sing Happy Birthday to him. So sweet. We then went to eat and Pete was working so Aikman just loved that! He even made us our own pizza and brought it to our table for us. Half was sausage and pepperoni and the other half was pepperoni and mushroom. So good. I had to laugh when he set the pizza down because Aikman looked at it and said “hey, those look like little caca balls momma!” Yes, thank you monkey for that. Pippa ate so much. She loved their salad bar. We then went to play! Pete had bought Monks a little certificate while we were there for 20 tokens and we bought a few so he was set for the night. He played a game called Acorn Drop where you move this claw around and then drop the ball and it has to fall in holes with different numbers on them. That’s how many tickets you get. They have a jackpot that is marked 100. The first time he did it, he got 30 tickets but the second time he hit the jackpot!!! He got 100 tickets in one try! He was so proud of himself! The tickets just kept coming and we had to keep telling him to wait to tear them all off. He also loves to play skee ball but sadly is horrible at it. He can’t roll it underhand. He acts like he is going to and then last minute throws it overhand and like totally diagonal and it winds up hitting the side of the other games or the back wall. Yeah, scary. I made the mistake of standing behind him and somehow he threw the ball back and it hit me in the mouth. Really? Craziness. We then went home for cupcakes and singing. He loves the Happy Birthday song and sings it pretty well. He was so happy and  I just love his smile in the pictures. Too cute. He had a great day and loves to tell you he is 3. I still can’t believe it. We are all super excited about the party Saturday!

Pips in her Rangers gear.

Watching Aikman ride the motorcycle.
This one was neat. It is a little ride that moves and bumps and jerks and they chose  a racing scene.

100 tickets on their way out!
Counting down from 100...

I love love love this picture. Lol.

Happy Birthday Monkey!

My first born is three today!!! Goodness gracious where has the time gone? I cannot believe it. He is such a big boy and I can’t even begin to tell you how much I love him. He is my monkey. Devin and I decorated some last night after he went to bed and I made cupcakes. He was so excited this morning when he woke up to find everything. He yelled for me (I was getting ready for work) and he said “come look with me momma! Come see!” He says decorations but he says it so funny. He said “dis for me? For my birthday?” He immediately grabbed some balloons we had just thrown on the floor and began to play. For lunch, Devin brought the kids up here and a tray of cupcakes and we went around handing them out to everyone. He told everyone he was turning three and would give them one while saying “is for my birthday!” He was the center of attention and loved it. We then went to lunch at Buffalo Wild Wings. Jennifer from my work came with us and we met Pete and Phil there. Phil treated us to a great lunch (for everyone) and then they brought Jennifer and I back to work. After work, we will eat whatever he picks (I think he wants Taco Casa) and we will have cupcakes and a few little presents. His party will be Saturday and we can’t wait! I can’t wait to do my little survey with him (I did it at 2 ½ ) and so we can see what changed in 6 months. Happy birthday Monks! You are the best!

His doorway
Balloon garland, a few Avengers things, and lanterns
No! Devin said when he got home from lunch our balloon garland had torn. :( We have to re-tie it.
Handsome thing!

Pippa Stories

The other night when we were outside unloading the car, a dog started to bark. I was holding Pippa and she opened her mouth wide and her eyes got big. I said is that a dog and she kept saying paw, paw, paw. I didn’t think anything of it. Fast forward a few days and she was in her highchair in the kitchen. I opened the back door so I could give Apollo some water and Monks could feed him. She got so excited to see him and pointed and said paw! paw! I said is that Apollo and she smiled big and said paw! Then I remembered she had said that the other night when we heard a dog. She was saying Apollo! Now when I ask her where Apollo is she will point to the back door or look towards it and say paw! How sweet is that?

She is also on this crazy kick of blowing everyone kisses. She was doing it in HEB the other day. She does it a lot too when you tell her hi, bye or that you love her. Nothing sweeter than kisses from my Pips!

She has taken two steps so far but they are not huge forward steps. She likes to bend her knees and creep as I like to call it. I am telling you my baby girl is so strange sometimes. Those chubby little legs are too cute when on the move though!

Weekend Update

Nothing too exciting this weekend except for swimming! Saturday a friend of ours invited us to go swimming in Anson. It is exactly 22 miles from Abilene. Didn’t take too long to get out there and it was so worth the drive. The pool was awesome! I loved the set up of it. Plus, I don’t think there was ever over 20 people there. And they were not all in the water. When you first enter, it is like the beach in that the water gradually gets deeper. They had a 1ft deep section and then a 2ft deep section roped off and then you got into the 3-5 feet and so on. They also had a small area roped off for the slides. Two big curly slides to go down! The kids loved it! I know Pippa got tired at the end but she just wanted out of her floatie which was so nice in the super shallow parts because she could crawl around and play on her own. They also had this big mushroom shaped fountain that water constantly poured off of. Aikman loves things like that. He had so much fun playing with Qeylee and Hopper in the water. Hopper is so funny because she thinks Pippa’s name is Hippa. It is so cute to hear her say it. We were out there 3 hours but did take a snack break. They sold nachos, hot dogs, chips and drinks for $1. Um, hello. You think the Anderson’s would not jump on that?? Monks and I got the food during a potty break. Both babies passed out on the way home. We were all pretty worn out from it but it was insanely fun.

Sunday we just went grocery shopping. I got some new recipes I wanted to try and I made a list so we won’t be going constantly. We always spend so much more when we don’t have a list and just grab random things that “sound” good. Sunday night I made Spicy Romano Chicken with Artichoke Hearts and Sun Dried Tomatoes. Oh to the em to the gee. It was delicious. It was spicy though as it called for quite a bit of cayenne pepper but the flavors were awesome. Tia and Adrian came over and we all hung out. I could not feed it to the kids so they just had chicken and rice and fruit. It was a great weekend!

Pips had fallen asleep after shopping, and we went to a gas station to get a drink. I went to peek in the window to look at her and Devin took a pic without me knowing it. So that is why I look like a creepy bum looking at my daughter.Sigh.
