Monk's Heart Grew Three Sizes That Day

The last two nights my aunt and grandma cooked dinner for us and we went to Gigi’s house to eat. Grandma makes the best Spanish rice and we had carne guisada and tamales and enchiladas on Tuesday. Monks loved it! The guisada was a little chewy for him but he ate it. Tia Jenny came over and brought Austin and she was getting stuff off the car and he just ran in. Austin is one of Monk’s least favorite things sadly. So Monks was standing by the back door walking around and Austin came in and slid on the hard wood floor and when Monks saw him he screamed and tried to hug the door to get away. It was so sad the sound he made. I picked him up and he just stared at Austin like you are a bad dog and then when he saw his Tia he wanted her so she took Monks and was sitting in a chair with him and I sat on the ground to play with Austin and Monks would reach for him and then get mad and yell if he sniffed him so I picked up Austin and held him close and told Monks to pet him and be easy and he hesitated but then did. He petted Austin!! He then wanted down and at that moment they became new BFF’s. Monks leaned down to kiss Austin and of course got licked and he just smiled. He kissed that little dog every couple of minutes! I don’t know what caused his change of heart but it was very sweet. He would follow Austin with his car and they would kiss and then he would keep playing and pet him and kiss him and then keep going. We were in shock. The once feared and hated Austin is now loved and adored by Monks.
