We woke up to a wonderful breakfast of fresh fruit, a breakfast casserole, and muffins. We did not have a booster seat for Monks so Big Tio had the great idea to have him sit on a phone book. He was so sweet sitting at the table. All he wanted was fruit and some muffin and wanted down. He kept scratching at the phone book too, I think he was confused by sitting on a book. Once we were all ready, we left for the Wild Seed Farms in Fredericksburg. They had a great gift shop and it all reminded me so much of my mom. Our favorite part was the little food area (surprise, surprise). They had homemade salsas, real honey, marinades, dips, sauces, jellies and a wine tasting area. I am not sure how no one sampled wine J but they didn’t. I absolutely love honey so it was sad I could not get any as you are not supposed to eat it while pregnant but I did get these wonderful raspberry preserves. They are soooooo good. Devin got some wasabi and like horseradish stuff, it looked scary to me and we got some pickled jalapenos that you mix with cream cheese and it becomes a dip. It is amazing! Monks sure enjoyed the samples you could get!
He is in Gramita's jacket being silly and he looked like ET to us. |
We then headed to Luckenbach, a tiny little town, if you can even call it that with a population of 3, yes three. I had never heard of it but it was well worth the visit. We had the most fun there! Normally we were told there are maybe ten or so people there, but the weekend we went they were celebrating so they had a band and there was a parade about to happen and there was a decent number of people there. They had some bikers and Monks was in love with the motorcycles. It was rare to get a pic with him looking because when he heard one, he would turn and stare and nothing could get his attention. We went in a gift shop and I bought him a cute shirt and Pete and Phil a shot glass for watching Apollo while we were gone. They also had a bar and in minutes of being there everyone had a beer in hand (except Monks and I of course). I was so excited! As soon as we walked in you could take a picture on a Longhorn! A real Bevo!! Monks went right with the nice man and even offered to share his sucker! He was not too happy when he was set up there alone so Devin hopped up there too and they took a pic. It was perfect! After that and the gift shop, we decided we would eat there, as they had this great snack bar. Man, it was delicious! I feel like it should be on Diners Drive-Ins and Dives! Monks had a hot dog, Devin, Tia Net, and Big Tio had bratwurst sandwiches, I had a hamburger, Tia had a pulled pork sandwich and we shared these huge curly fries. Devin also had a sausage on a stick. After we ate, Tia had to have a sausage on a stick and I told her I would gladly share with her, not knowing Monks would eat half of it. He loved it! Devin needed a pulled pork sandwich, and he got us all a funnel cake to share. Monks and I also shared a homemade cherry limeade! It was so good. There were also chickens running around and Monks chased a few. Devin called him a little Balboa, ha ha.
We then headed back to Kerrville so the men could nap. Monks was exhausted and fell asleep on the way back home. When we got home, the guys laid down and the girls went the some little boutique type stores and then headed home after about 2 hours to start on dinner. We had amazing bacon wrapped steaks, baked potatoes, salad and bread. We were stuffed and sad to say goodbye but we packed up and headed home to Abilene about 8:20 that night. It was perfect because that is around Monks bedtime so I knew he would sleep. I guess he was still excited so it took him until about 9 to get sleepy and just when he was going to sleep, I opened some Twizzlers and he woke up and had to have one. He had about one and a half and then went to sleep. Sweet boy.
extremely cute pics with the exception of the one's with crocs in them.
