Day 3 Part 1

Our third day there was very exciting. We went to the San Antonio Zoo! It was nice out. I was afraid it would be too hot but it was decent. A little humid I thought but a breeze blew. Pips was awake the whole time we were there! She would just sit up in her stroller and look around. Aikman walked the whole time and had so much fun seeing all the animals. He loved the lion (hello, Lion King) and the monkeys. They had an awesome zoo and so much to see. We also got a 50% discount on the tickets since we are Abilene Zoo Members. Thank you to Horns for that. After the zoo, we rode this little train that goes around the park. It was a twenty minute long ride and I truly feel that was the highlight of Monk’s day. He absolutely loved it! The conductor would blow that whistle and yell all aboard anytime we had to stop and start and Aikman would smile and just listen and then squeal and laugh. He thought that was the funniest sound. It also had a tunnel we went through and it was pitch black and the conductor said to make lots of noise going through it so everyone yelled and screamed. I picked up Pips just in case she got scared but she was all smiles. She sat by me the whole time just looking around. We then hurried to eat lunch at one of Big Tio’s favorite places. It was really good. Sadly I don’t remember the name but it was like a lower budget but way more authentic Genghis Grill. They had lamb and a few other choices for meat and then you piled on the veggies and put your sauce and then took it over to the cook and he cooked it all up for you. Fried rice was already on the table. It was excellent. It was a little family owned hole in the wall place (the best kind) and they were closing in a few minutes but Big Tio worked his magic being a regular and earned VIP treatment. Lol. It’s good to know people. J

This was at entrance and he ran over to it yelling Simba! Simba!

In front of the Gators! My favorite animal by far!

My other favs! Little sharks. I love this pic because in the middle of the picture, you can see Aikman's reflection in the glass. Precious!

This pic does not do justice. This python was huge! We have  at the Abilene Zoo and I bet three of ours would fit in this one. It was bigger around than Aikman.

Hippo from behind

his poor guy was crazy. Had a giraffe head, zebra legs, and a donkey type body.

The train!
